Apologies for not posting in the right area but thought it may reach a lot of people!

Dp got a text today to say that one off payments of £500 are being paid by 23rd April. I didn’t think we would be eligible. Is it just a generic text sent to everyone or just those entitled? I thought it was only for those on working tax credits, we only get child tax credits I believe.

To clarify. Dp works and has worked all the way through the pandemic and earns around £30,000 a year. I am currently a stay at home mum to out two children who both have additional needs. The bulk of our child tax credits are based on my children receiving disability living allowance rather than dp’s earnings. We do get some based on his earnings though.

I am really clueless 😂 I thought tax credits were eventually being changed over to universal credit too. We still get ‘tax credits’ and not universal credit.

Advice for a confused mum.

We own our own home and don’t get any other benefits apart from the DLA my children get and the tax credits (obviously child benefit too). £500 would be very appreciated!

Tia.

Has anyone received the payment today?

AlohaMolly · 12/04/2021 08:49

Nope, I thought it was 23rd April?

Cbe07 · 12/04/2021 08:51

I think it’s anytime from today till the 23rd April, I was just curious to see if they had started making the payments.

Skymum82 · 12/04/2021 08:55

Nope we neither prob a tease text message. You could get it but you won't 🙄

Fivetoomany · 12/04/2021 09:12

Not yet, I keep checking. I'm with Monzo bank and you can see incoming payments up to 4 days before they reach your account. I will post if I see anything appear on my app.

Flumpy110313 · 12/04/2021 13:06

Nothing here no message or letter.Im a bit sad now lol I get both working tax and child tax fingers crossed.

Hotpinkangel19 · 12/04/2021 20:16

No text here but it looks like we qualify as on our award notice the WTC is at zero as earn too much.

WishITookLifeSeriously · 12/04/2021 20:30

Does anyone know if they'll be paid with our usual tax credits? I get mine on a Tuesday, tomorrow would be dreamy.

Tink2007 · 13/04/2021 08:20

Does anyone else have the HMRC App? It came up on there the other evening that we would be getting the £500 payment and I double checked with HMRC and they have said yes, as it’s come up on there you’re getting it. Just wanted to see if anyone else had the message on the app?

Cbe07 · 13/04/2021 08:43

I have the app & also have the message on the app....also had the text a couple of weeks ago.

Flumpy110313 · 13/04/2021 09:03

I just had the generic blue message on the app.

£500 one off payment tax credits.
Stitch16 · 13/04/2021 09:29

Does the blue msg on app mean we getting it?

Dizzydream · 13/04/2021 09:32

Thats the same message I had on the app also, I'm fairly confident that we're eligable given the criteria however the wording doesn't give me any certainty the you may get it if eligable is giving me doubts

Tink2007 · 13/04/2021 09:43

That’s what their Twitter team told me and their phone team this morning.

Grapewrath · 13/04/2021 09:48

I haven’t had a text but he online chat yesterday told me I’m eligible
I don’t get WTC but I work full time and get a small amount of CTC.
The reason people on disability benefits haven’t got it I would imagine is because there have been extra provisions made for families on benefits throughout the period in terms of extra FSM vouchers throughout the holidays to meet the rising cost of kids being at home more during lockdown etc. Families on benefits are also entitled to things like free prescriptions and warmer homes grants.
Working families have also incurred these extra costs in terms of food and fuel yet haven’t received any extra financial support, so the £500 is to compensate for that I presume

imalmostthere · 13/04/2021 09:51

The message on the app is NOT clarifying you will get it, it's on all the apps as a notice. If you're eligible you will have gotten a text or letter. If you haven't received one, you aren't eligible.

This isn’t correct. I was told yesterday by HMRC that I’m eligible and haven’t had a text or letter
Tink2007 · 13/04/2021 10:06

That’s incorrect. I have contacted HMRC with a screenshot of the app and the message and also on the phone and they have confirmed that it is confirmation.

imalmostthere · 13/04/2021 10:07

I have also contacted HMRC and was told the app message appears on all apps, the payment won't be shown there, and you'll get a letter or text if elegible

Just to say people on disability benefits have not received anything more over recent times due to the pandemic- my son gets mid rate DLA and it has remained the same
Thunderpunt · 13/04/2021 10:14

And also you are conflating Disability benefits with FSM which I believe are for
Vulnerable or low income families. You might be surprised to learn that disability doesn't discriminate against socio economic class

I am aware- I also have a disabled child in receipt of DLA ( mobility and care elements) I was talking about families who are unable to work and are therefore on benefits as their main source of income. If your child had a disability and you are unable to work then therefore you would be entitled to FSM etc. If your child has a disability and you work you will receive the £500. So either way, you are entitled to some level of support if you have a disability or a disabled child. Could be wrong though :)
