£500 one off payment tax credits.

Apologies for not posting in the right area but thought it may reach a lot of people!

Dp got a text today to say that one off payments of £500 are being paid by 23rd April. I didn’t think we would be eligible. Is it just a generic text sent to everyone or just those entitled? I thought it was only for those on working tax credits, we only get child tax credits I believe.

To clarify. Dp works and has worked all the way through the pandemic and earns around £30,000 a year. I am currently a stay at home mum to out two children who both have additional needs. The bulk of our child tax credits are based on my children receiving disability living allowance rather than dp’s earnings. We do get some based on his earnings though.

I am really clueless 😂 I thought tax credits were eventually being changed over to universal credit too. We still get ‘tax credits’ and not universal credit.

Advice for a confused mum.

We own our own home and don’t get any other benefits apart from the DLA my children get and the tax credits (obviously child benefit too). £500 would be very appreciated!

Tia.

idiotathome79 if you or your partner are working at least 16 hours a week and you get any child tax credits then you will get the £500.
If neither you or your partner (if you live with a partner) are in employment for at least 16 hours a week then you won’t qualify for the £500.
Single parent on carers allowance won’t get the £500, unless they were in employment on 2nd March this year.

Totallycluelessoverhere · 14/04/2021 14:17

stitch16 it might be possible for a couple earning £40k between them to qualify depending on their circumstances.
It could be that they have high child care costs.
It could be that they have disabilities or their children have disabilities.
It could be that they have quite a few qualifying children.

@GreatestSh0wUnicorn

Interesting I think I’m entitled but never had a text.
I am entitled but seeing as Tax Credits can't even decide themselves what I am entitled to despite having all evidence I'm not holding out for it... Qualifying child who they decided 5 months in wasn't entitled to it. Pension contributions that qualified but was claimed back by them one year, but the next year allowed and paid to me..
ultrablue · 14/04/2021 16:59

Were not was.. it's been a long worry shift..

I’ve just checked my Monzo account and there is a payment showing for tomorrow for £500. It shows as HMRC C19 Support.

Cbe07 · 15/04/2021 06:33

That’s great....do you get WTC or are you just eligible?....also is Friday your normal day for payments?.

DietingAgain · 15/04/2021 06:46

That's great news! As PP said, is Friday your normal payment day? Mine is Monday and my payments usually show on Saturday so I've got my fingers crossed.
Flumpy110313 · 15/04/2021 07:13

Aww pleased for you all I get paid on a monday so fingers crossed.

We are eligible for WTC but our income means we don’t get them. Our usual CTC goes in 4 weekly on a Thursday. Hope that helps :)
Tink2007 · 15/04/2021 07:31

Waxonwaxoff0 just replied above in case you miss it :)

Skymum82 · 15/04/2021 08:03
