Razzmatazz by Pulp.

It’s bloody catch though.

What’s worse?

Yy to both You Oughta Know and Everybody Knows. Actually Cohen has a couple of stonking lines in other songs too -something about going down on someone in the kitchen comes to mind.

MsRinky · 29/03/2021 20:55

There's a wonderful version of Fuck You by Cee Lo Green at Daryl's House on YouTube.

Alsohuman · 29/03/2021 20:56

Nothing will ever beat I Will Survive. The best revenge is living well.

FinanciallyUnsavvy · 29/03/2021 20:57

Before he cheats by Carrie Underwood made me wish I’d done all the things she does when I caught my ex having an affair.

TrialOfStyle · 29/03/2021 20:57

I love that Jarvis Cocker keeps popping up. I Spy is almost psychotic. Perhaps my question should have been ‘is Pulp the most vitriolic band’.

Fuck You I agree is pretty vitriolic, but there’s definitely an easy singalong vibe that perhaps pulls it back a bit.

I’m not sure why, but Sk8er boi really pisses me off. She’s not the victim in the scenario she paints and throwing a revenge song out feels petty and insecure.

Before he cheats by Carrie Underwood is pretty vicious!

pheasantsinlove · 29/03/2021 20:59

I agree with @Ginuwine . The question is name another song not AIBU. This is what the chat section is for.

safeea · 29/03/2021 20:59

Trial of style

The most vitriolic song I know is Seventy Times Seven by Brand New.

PandaFluff · 29/03/2021 21:01

So What by Pink

TrialOfStyle · 29/03/2021 21:02

@safeea I love that song in the same way as Razzmatazz. It’s incredibly catchy and dark and satisfying

"If you bring your kid, with you on a date anymore, to the movies, or the mall, or the grocery store I'm gonna shoot him through the head...I hate your kid.

He's 14 years old, he's pissy and bold, he doesn't do nothing that he is told, he's got too much pot, if you don't think he's dealing than you have got a lot, to learn, I want to burn your kid.

He's got a gun, he's got a beeper, you caught him with both he said, ""Ah Geez ma, I'm just holdin' it for some other guy" not in a million years did I think this bullshit story would fly, you bought it you did, I hate your kid.

i hate your kid, I hate your kid, he's violent and dumb just like someone else I know, his father, why would I bother with this weird genetic strain, what a pain in my brain, I hate your kid.

The stupid parent blues, this is the news, all across the land, lets join hands, and kill that kid...am I overreacting? Well I ain't retracting, look into my eyes, I despise that kid"

Like A Rolling Stone is pretty savage. It's so specific in its imaginings.

Have to say that Kelis number is one of the most cathartic songs there is but I don't know that it's vengeful; just furious. Nothing wrong with that ofc.

I don't think I've heard Razzamatazz but the lyrics sound a bit like the traditional football chant that goes to the tune of The Addams Family:

Your sister fucks your brother
Your uncle fucks your mother
You all fuck one another
The [other team] family

So that's distracting me a bit.

3Britnee · 29/03/2021 21:02

Cry, cry, cry by Johnny Cash.

alltoomuchrightnow · 29/03/2021 21:03

ToffeeNotCoffee · 29/03/2021 21:06

You Little Thief by Feargal Sharkey is pretty vitriolic.

Yes it is.

ChazP · 29/03/2021 21:07

Rainbows and Pots of Gold by the Stereophonics is pretty vitriolic.

It's hard to beat a good ol Country revenge song...... As other pps have mentioned Carrie Underwood's is pretty biting.

Right now, he's probably slow dancin' with a bleached-blond tramp and she's probably gettin' frisky
Right now, he's probably buyin' her some fruity little drink 'cause she can't shoot whiskey
Right now, he's probably up behind her with a pool-stick showin' her how to shoot a combo
And he don't know

I dug my key into the side of his pretty little souped-up four-wheel drive
Carved my name into his leather seats
I took a Louisville slugger to both head lights
I slashed a hole in all four tires
Maybe next time he'll think before he cheats

Right now, she's probably up singing some white-trash version of Shania karaoke
Right now, she's probably sayin' "I'm drunk"
And he's a-thinkin' that he's gonna get lucky
Right now, he's probably dabbin' on three dollars worth of that bathroom Polo

NiceTwin · 29/03/2021 21:17

Ciao - Lush & Jarvis Cocker

Mouse157 · 29/03/2021 21:17

I hate you by frank Carter and the rattlesnakes is pretty vitriolic

IckyPop · 29/03/2021 21:17

@corlan

Bloody Motherfucking Asshole by Martha Wainwright. I've never heard the song, but the title's outstanding!
Great song, great artist. Written about her dad.
EveningOverRooftops · 29/03/2021 21:18

You are the problem here - first aid kit. The rage omg.

TrialOfStyle · 29/03/2021 21:19

I think Carrie Underwood hits the mark and she’s fantastic at this.

Some of the other entries are more bitter than vitriolic. I think that’s something Pulp exceeded at (for better or worse - and a lot of questions about what the hell was going behind the scenes for Jarvis Cocker).
