My plan was to keep my family alive and well. We managed the first half.

TrickorTreacle · 29/03/2021 20:25

I would have bought my office chair much earlier if I knew I was going to be home-based for a year. Done my posture in now! Hopefully that can be reversed now I got a proper chair for work.

I’d have hugged a fair few people if I’d realised I wasn’t going to see them for a year! I’d have also made the most of restrictions lifting a bit in summer and got out more.

Apart from that nothing different really, I’ve worked throughout so not really had time for any improvement projects.

Ideasplease322 · 29/03/2021 20:31

I would have established a better routine. Exercise, better food and less wine.

I would have reached out to friends earlier, Not felt ashamed of feeling lonely and not felt I had to work extreme hours because I don’t have children. I would have called out colleagues who Constantly told Me it was easy for me because I live alone with no kids.

I would have kept my house cleaner, and made my office in a larger room.

I would have ordered a really good quality office chair.

Put my teen into school as a keyworker child straight away. He was used to being home alone after school and in holidays, I thought he'd be fine. Weeks of being home alone everyday, but not able to meet friends or anything like he normally could in the holidays was too much. He became very withdrawn and lost interest in anything, it took him months to get back to his usual self.

ILoveAnOwl · 29/03/2021 20:34

Saved some money. We thought my husband's business closing would be very short term. It's still closed.

SunAndSea37 · 29/03/2021 20:35

I really wish I’d got married in the September gap when you could have 30 ppl in the garden and gone on a lovely honeymoon. Ended up squeezing in a tiny rushed thing between lockdowns and for various family reasons, a do over and nice honeymoon will be tough for us now! Hindsight!

SpiderinaWingMirror · 29/03/2021 20:35

I wouldn't have changed my job 6 working days before lockdown meaning I didn't qualify for furlough pay. Tbf.

altlife · 29/03/2021 20:35

Lost weight

And I've been wanting to shave my head for a while...

RuthW · 29/03/2021 20:35

I wouldn't have changed a thing. I've really enjoyed the last year, working as normal, saving loads and staying in. I intend to make the changes I've made permanent.

luckylavender · 29/03/2021 20:36

We weren't in lockdown for a year.

AliceMcK · 29/03/2021 20:36

Told my DH to take furlong instead of working from home which resulted in him actually working far longer hours as he was covering for those on furlough. He could have done all the home improvements on out projects house by now.

Tried to loose weight.

WiseOwlOne · 29/03/2021 20:37

I wish I hadn't worked so hard. I am an essential worker but not in a hospital, not working with the public, but I've been in the office every day for the last year and it's been really tough because a lot of people have been working from home. The pandemic has contributed to a social trend that has increased our workload but decreased staff basically. And after a year of killing myself, my boss brought me in to a room and told me what I could be doing better. No ''thank you for your hard work this last year, you have been so reliable, such a conscientious hardworker, wow''. No just a petty little list of improvements. I'm working on them, but omg, I feel like a proper mug. I shouldn't have killed myself trying so hard this last year.

AgentCooper · 29/03/2021 20:38

Spent more than with my FIL, obviously being as careful as possible, even just out in the garden. He died in December and I hadn’t seen him in months.

huggzy · 29/03/2021 20:39

Oh I also wish I'd dyed my hair purple like I used to in my late teens! I even bought the dye, but I kept thinking I'd be called back to work at any time. Too late now 🤦‍♀️

myusernamewastakenbyme · 29/03/2021 20:42

I wish i'd found another job as i soon as i was furloughed...ive not worked for 10 months and my finances are dire...starting a new job next week and luckily still get furlough pay from my proper job.

bananamonkey · 29/03/2021 20:42

Started maternity leave a week earlier so I could have had some time to myself/chance to get my hair cut and do some house jobs.

Moved somewhere closer to nice outdoors spaces (not actually realistic but got so bored with doing the same lap of the park!)

PicsInRed · 29/03/2021 20:47

The only thing I'd do differently is holiday the fuck out of last Feb, Easter and Summer. It's a mistake I shan't repeat.

NeedWineNow · 29/03/2021 20:47

Done a runner to our favourite Greek island and sat it out there.

StopGo · 29/03/2021 20:49

I wish I'd realised the NHS would close down to anyone without Covid. I'd have fought harder and maybe, just maybe I wouldn't now be a widow and single parent. I'm just one of thousands.

celan · 29/03/2021 20:50

I suppose I would magically have retrained as something that wasn't torpedoed by lockdown, and which would have kept me afloat during this whole shit-show.

Either that, or I would have emigrated.

lazylinguist · 29/03/2021 20:51

I can't think of anything tbh! I lost a bit of weight in lockdown 1, gained it back in lockdown 2 and have now lost most of it again Grin. I've done plenty of exercise, carried on learning the language I was already learning, done a fair bit of knitting and crochet, had a pretty nice time with dh and the dc considering we couldn't do much or go anywhere. I don't think I've made bad use of the time really.

Pumpkyumpkyumpkin · 29/03/2021 20:52
