Jumpers268 · 29/03/2021 07:13

Yes!!! Feel like we just have the same meals on rotation. It's driving me crazy....

Originalyellowbelly · 29/03/2021 07:16

Yes! My dh is so fussy about food, it's pointless asking him for ideas as he suggests the same few meals every time.

HollyBollyBooBoo · 29/03/2021 07:18

Yes! One of my least favourite tasks. DD is a fussy eater and would live off of chicken and white rice if I'd let her so finding meals she will actually eat is a chore.

BewareTheBeardedDragon · 29/03/2021 07:18

Yup, with a passion. I wouldn't mind so much if my dc weren't all so fussy. Confused

Chicchicchicchiclana · 29/03/2021 07:18

It's the bane of my life. My dh will shop and cook sometimes (not quite his fair share imo but that's another story) but will never comes up with ideas of what to have. It's so BORING.

Lotsachocolateplease · 29/03/2021 07:19

Yea definitely. Although I was looking through a magazine with ds14 who is quite fussy and he spotted a couple of recipes he’d thought he’d like to try so I’m doing them this week.
Homemade ‘sunshine wraps’ and satay sauce with chicken and avocado.
I was moaning about having to do it all as well so ds is going to help make the sauce and wraps. I’m actually looking forward to it now!

Ijustreallywantacat · 29/03/2021 07:19

We do a meal plan on Sundays when I can remember. I am the fussy one! Little by little improving, as DP is patient and introducing me to new food lol.

FallenSky · 29/03/2021 07:19

Yes. So bored. Nobody in my house is useful either. "What shall we have for dinner?" "Oh, I don't mind, up to you" "Whatever you fancy" "McDonalds".... Hmm I did get in to the routine of a 3 week meal plan a while ago. Set up my online shopping lists so I just had to go on and add "week 1, Week 2 etc" and checkout. Should really go back to that.

Aprilx · 29/03/2021 07:21

No, I quite enjoy picking meals.

Flowers24 · 29/03/2021 07:23

Every day i get ' whats for dinner' or 'there's no food'

I ask my family what they want over the next week and they think I’m being amazingly nice (normally I never consult!)

But I’ve just run out of ideas really

Apparently the average family has a meal rotation of 9 dinners - we probably double that but still a massive chore

Shmithecat2 · 29/03/2021 07:26

YANBU. I was feeling the same, so I'm currently going through all the dinner kit delivery companies and their promotional offers. Tried Hello Fresh and Gousto so far and its been quite enjoyable!

Returnoftheowl · 29/03/2021 07:26

God yes, I'm out of ideas.

Ilovepugs22020 · 29/03/2021 07:29

It's the one reason I really like gusto or hello fresh

Modestandatinybitsexy · 29/03/2021 07:30

Luckily DH and I share this but it's something we both hate and have to make ourselves sit and do it. It's the worst part of the online shop.

Something that has helped is keeping a list of all the meals we eat so we can kind of choose from a menu and add in some seasonal extras.

Same here. We meal plan all together at the end of the week. I ran out of steam for doing it myself years ago. And now the kids are teens they can pick a meal each a week to cook themselves too.
Coffeeand · 29/03/2021 07:31

We are a family of 7 so it’s a fairly frequent topic. I tend to have the view I’ve cooked, paid for, and will tidy up after this meal so if you want something else cook it yourself. The older children are capable of this, and I generally feel being fussy should lead to learning cooking skills. My 15 year old son is a much more accomplished cook than I was at that age because I’ve refused to cook two meals of an evening as he ‘doesn’t like pasta’.

Redcrayons · 29/03/2021 07:32

It’s possibly one of the worst parts of being an adult. I hate it.

Lockdown has made it worse I’m down to about 4 different meals a week. I just cant be bothered.

GlumyGloomer · 29/03/2021 07:33

Planning the week in one go is overwhelming. I plan on my phone, start on Monday, add a few things at a time through the week, and by Saturday I'm ready to shop. I do a mix of meals we have all the time which I know everyone will eat, and more risky recipes where I want to try something exciting.

Flowers24 · 29/03/2021 07:34

It is the utter drudgery and groundhog day of it, and agree, it is one of the worst parts of being an adult, Lockdown has made it worse as we would normally have a pub meal every other week (dh and i) and the whole family go out for a meal once a month which breaks it up.

I wish we didnt have to eat 7 days a week and could just take a tablet for half of it !

In my house its curry, bolognese, sausage beans and chips, or fish peas and parsley sauce. It pisses me right off. I would happily eat salads, seafood pasta etc but witb two fussy teens (who like different things) its so bloody limited. I'm sick of cooking our joyless repertoire.

Pokercomic · 29/03/2021 07:35

Yes I read this the other day and it sums up adulting:

Do you hate having to choose whats for dinner every day
Auntycorruption · 29/03/2021 07:36

I was moaning to a friend about this yesterday. She has a new boyfriend who loves cooking and so is free if the drudge for the first time ever!

I however am not free. I have myself (trying to lose weight), DH (fussy oh so fussy and would live on pizza given the option) and 2 normal kids. It's so fucking dull.
