To buy used leggings?

Mycatisatabbytwat · 26/03/2021 18:24

I'm currently online shopping and there's two pairs of a lovely print leggings for sale for just a quid!!
But they're second hand/used.
Would it be a bit Envy to buy them?

OP posts:
merryhouse · 27/03/2021 11:57

I wouldn't have bought them from on-line because of the high probability that they're moulded to someone else's knees.

I'd have had no problem with examining a pair in a charity shop, though.

(and I'm pretty sure that when I was a child I wore knickers that hadn't been bought by my mother)

Lolwhat · 27/03/2021 12:00

I wouldn’t, I don’t wear underwear with mine🥴😳

Bbq1 · 27/03/2021 12:11
@TrialOfStyle - I have never and would never go commando as I just don't find it comfortable. I just need my big knickers to feel dressed! Same as I couldn't go braless.
I am a leggings owner and wearer but none of mine are see-through? They're just bog standard supermarket leggings but certainly not see through, I wouldn't dream of wearing them if they were. I read a thread somewhere (possibly on here but I'm not 100% sure) asking whether ladies wore pantyliners with leggings. I was quite surprised as it was the first I'd heard of people wearing leggings as underwear but outerwear. Many were saying how they could get a few days' wear out of the same pair by wearing a pantyliner in the gusset. That just made me feel rather sick and confirmed that I'd never be in the market for buying second hand leggings!
Bleurgh... a FEW DAYS wear out of a pair of leggings AND without underwear ?! That is totally vile. Leggings are wear once then wash. Ugh, women actually do that. Nasty.

BalladOfBarryAndFreda · 27/03/2021 12:12

Some people are very silly. You like them? Buy them. It doesn’t matter that they are second hand.

Hardbackwriter · 27/03/2021 12:25

@littlepattilou

They're a fiver to buy in Primark, and £7 in New Look, and H & M!

FFS, why buy second hand LEGGINGS?!

Grim. As. FUCK. 🤮

How much (little) the people making those leggings get paid and the environmental cost of treating clothing as disposable is also Grim. As. FUCK though, isn't it?
SecretThermalsAreTheBest · 27/03/2021 12:26

Surely depends on what type of leggings they are...? I mean maybe if they're ironman high-sports leggings designed for commando sprinting over marathon distances then no...

But from the description it sounds like they've probably been yoga leggings, or leggings for wearing out and about to the shops. I bought some second hand Lululemon leggings (no way I could afford the real thing) and I love them. Washing machines get things clean!

Theunamedcat · 27/03/2021 12:27

Primark leggings fall down and bobble anyway

LemonSherbetFancies · 27/03/2021 12:32

Minge proximity 😂 did give me a laugh.

Personally I would not OP. DD gets hers from Primark for £2.

Cantrecall · 27/03/2021 12:34

How can people not wear underwear with leggings Shock vile. ‘Pantyliners to get a few days wear out of them’. EnvyEnvyEnvy

EmmaGrundyForPM · 27/03/2021 12:39

I'm a cyclist. Padded cycle shorts and leggings can be very expensive and there is a good second hand market for them. No one wears underwear with padded leggings and it's really not an issue. You soak them in a laundry disinfectant like dettol for a few hours then wash them as normal.

I have never bought 2nd hand gym leggings but if I liked some I would buy them. I'd just make sure I disinfected and washed them before wearing.

TrickyD · 27/03/2021 12:42

@MrsSpringyTheElephant

I wouldn't, it would feel a bit like second-hand knickers! 😖
Are you still locked in the bathroom with your DH pounding on the door?
Bloodypunkrockers · 27/03/2021 12:52

TrickyD. She's off making him lunch.

littlepattilou · 27/03/2021 13:41

@bonbonours

I would buy second hand underwear if places were allowed to sell it. If it's not damaged then why not? As previously mentioned, if something's been washed what's the problem? I say this as someone who bought and sold second hand washable nappies. In fact there's a thriving market in second hand nappies so not sure why second hand adult underwear is such a no no. I'm assuming most of you don't pop on your pants a lot?
🤢

I can't believe people like this walk alongside me. Shock

Bet you put your shitty toilet brushes in the dishwasher too. boak 🤮

littlepattilou · 27/03/2021 13:42

@Mycatisatabbytwat

I just bought them impulsively Blush They should be here in the next week or so. I'll make sure to attach a picture when they arrive GrinGrin
🤮🤮🤮
zingally · 27/03/2021 13:55

Ew. No.

I'm pretty open to second hand clothes, but to me, leggings are only a small step up from underwear, and that's a massive "no thanks" to me, when it comes to second hand.

3WildOnes · 27/03/2021 13:57

I have bought second hand gym leggings and never even gave it a second thought. I also buy second hand cloth nappies for my baby! I just put everything on a hot wash and/or wash with dettol laundry disinfectant.

ThatsNotTheTeaHunty · 27/03/2021 14:02

No.

ThatsNotTheTeaHunty · 27/03/2021 14:06

Oh bless you, I'm sorry you don't have a washing machine 😊

Buying second hand leggings is like buying used underwear.
Oh bless you.

Mylovelyhorsee · 27/03/2021 14:07

No I wouldn’t, but I’ve sold second hand leggings on eBay and plenty of people have paid for them.

HalfTermHalfTerm · 27/03/2021 14:19

I hope anyone who has a problem with this has never used a hotel towel to dry their face.... You know people dry their scrotums, vulvas, arseholes with those... dry up ejaculate splatter... and they're not single use!

This is an excellent point that I had not even considered. And maybe they sleep on hotel sheets too, that’s probably even worse.

I would have no issues with this. Chances are they will have been worn over underwear and most importantly they will have been washed.

Nurseries generally have a selection of pants, socks and trousers that children can borrow if they have accidents and they are then washed and returned. If that’s not ‘grim as fuck’ then I don’t see how buying second hand trousers is.

justwaydamin · 27/03/2021 14:26

I, too, am one of the underwearless leggings wearers. Only for gym leggings tho. Probably going to make it sound even worse now by saying every morning before I shower I put on my gym leggings (no undies), workout, eat, then I shower and dress (with appropriate undergarments). Otherwise I'd be going through too many pairs of knickers a day lol.

For this reason I wouldn't buy 2nd hand gym leggings or sell mine on

Chaiandkaafee · 27/03/2021 14:47

No.

MandalaYogaTapestry · 27/03/2021 16:29

There is no point of course to buy second hand supermarket leggings. However, new Lululemon or Sweaty Betty are between £90-120, whereas used on in impeccable condition go at 20-50 on ebay. Makes every sense to buy them. And the quality will be much, much better. They are proper thick sports leggings i.e. not the kind to be worn as underwear

thriftyhen · 27/03/2021 17:21

Put them in the washing machine, dry them and then wear them.

ElderMillennial · 28/03/2021 09:07

I didn't realise not wearing knickers under leggings was a thing!
