To buy used leggings?

Mycatisatabbytwat · 26/03/2021 18:24

I'm currently online shopping and there's two pairs of a lovely print leggings for sale for just a quid!!
But they're second hand/used.
Would it be a bit Envy to buy them?

Towels would typically be washed at a higher temperature and probably tumble dried. That kills more bacteria than a 30 degree wash and a day on the clothes horse.

BeautyQueenIamNot · 26/03/2021 19:31

I’ve come to the conclusion some people are a bit odd 🤷‍♀️

If you want them buy them 🤦‍♀️ And wash them

littlepattilou · 26/03/2021 19:32

@Mycatisatabbytwat

🤮

littlepattilou · 26/03/2021 19:34

They're a fiver to buy in Primark, and £7 in New Look, and H & M!

FFS, why buy second hand LEGGINGS?!

Grim. As. FUCK. 🤮

Travis1 · 26/03/2021 19:34

Howling at all the precious Pollys. There is a huggeree market for second hand leggings from certain brands. LLL, BYHP, tikiboo etc etc

Bluntness100 · 26/03/2021 19:36

Wouldn’t be for me. But if you’re ok with it go for it.

littlepattilou · 26/03/2021 19:37

To the people saying it's fine to buy them, would you buy second hand tights, second hand socks, and second hand knickers?

Nope. Thought not.

Re-using and recycling is all well and good for MOST clothes, but not all. And as I say, leggings are as cheap as chips to buy new. Old ones can go to the clothes-recycling skips FFS.

Posters are 'Precious Pollys' for having an alternative view to you?

OK Karen. Wink

What the fuck is a huggeree market ??? Confused

I'm not interested in 'brands' and I find it rather pathetic. I'd rather have new, non branded crotch huggers than buy second hand ones just because of the label. Like I said, 90% of my wardrobe is at least second hand. Could be third, fourth or ninth hand, I love second hand clothes, but I draw the line at underwear, nightwear, swimwear, tights and leggings. So many women don't wear underwear with them, or wear thongs so as not to have a VPL so I can only imagine the wedgies those leggings will have seen. No thanks.
TrialOfStyle · 26/03/2021 19:44

I’d buy them. Honestly, just put them on a real hot wash if you’re concerned. I don’t see why they’d be any different from buying second hand tights, skinny jeans, playsuits, etc.

littlepattilou · 26/03/2021 19:45

@Beseigedbykillersquirrels EXACTLY what you said.

And the poll results prove that buying second hand leggings is minging. ^ Wink

Only 66 votes so far, but even when (if) it gets to 500 or 1000, or more, it will STILL be a majority saying YABU to the OP.

And don't anyone say 'not everyone votes on the poll!' Grin

THAT'S what people say when the poll result isn't going their way. Grin

If that’s true that ‘so many women’ don’t wear underwear (VPL underwear DOES exist, by the way), the surely you shouldn’t buy ANY secondhand clothing for the bottom half. I bet you just as many women don’t bother wearing underwear is loose bottoms clothing too - and then sit down with them on.

KilljoysDutch · 26/03/2021 19:54

I'd buy them. I'm wearing second hand jeggings right now. Some of us can't afford to be hysterical snobs.

ReverendRicketyCricket · 26/03/2021 19:57

Your 'OK Karen' tells us the remainder of what we need to know about you littlepattilou. Hmm

Only on Mumsnet! Grin

@TrialOfStyle - one doesn't usually get such a VPL from looser-fitting garments so I doubt there's such a perceived need to go commando if wearing a skirt or pair of wide-legged trousers.

TrialOfStyle · 26/03/2021 20:10

As much as I don’t want to overshare, I’m more likely to go commando with loose fitting clothing then tight things. Tight clothing rubs and I need a layer, but loose joggers and trousers just feels a bit more freeing. Sorry if that’s TMI.

I also wonder about the VPL thing too, because I’m assuming they are standard cotton leggings (and likely see through). In which case I can’t see why you’d ever wear them without underwear.

DawnAnn · 26/03/2021 20:13

If you like them then just buy them. Wash them in the washing machine and they will be perfectly fine.

Purpleheadgirl · 26/03/2021 20:19

I wouldn't buy them but only because leggings stretch easily and could look funny. DD put a pair on back to front and all baggy at the front, get the marks from knees bending etc

CuthbertDibbleandGrubb · 26/03/2021 20:23

I am disappointed that they are on sale. Lovely leggings is a concept I struggle with.

TwoLeftSocksWithHoles · 26/03/2021 20:24

Isn't this where Zoflora rears it head... so to speak?

Travis1 · 26/03/2021 20:29

@littlepattilou 🙄 ‘Karen’? nae bother love

Beseigedbykillersquirrels · 26/03/2021 20:36

@TrialOfStyle - I have never and would never go commando as I just don't find it comfortable. I just need my big knickers to feel dressed! Same as I couldn't go braless.
I am a leggings owner and wearer but none of mine are see-through? They're just bog standard supermarket leggings but certainly not see through, I wouldn't dream of wearing them if they were. I read a thread somewhere (possibly on here but I'm not 100% sure) asking whether ladies wore pantyliners with leggings. I was quite surprised as it was the first I'd heard of people wearing leggings as underwear but outerwear. Many were saying how they could get a few days' wear out of the same pair by wearing a pantyliner in the gusset. That just made me feel rather sick and confirmed that I'd never be in the market for buying second hand leggings!

Emmelina · 26/03/2021 20:39

Second hand is fine, washing machines exist. My only question would be how ‘used’ they are. They wear and stretch very easily. I’d be disappointed to put them on and find the knees are baggy or they have those tiny holes in them.

PufferFishGoneWrong · 26/03/2021 20:40

@LAgeDeRaisin

But they're WASHED. You can even rewash them on arrival.

I hope anyone who has a problem with this has never used a hotel towel to dry their face.... You know people dry their scrotums, vulvas, arseholes with those... dry up ejaculate splatter... and they're not single use!

This, I did laundry years ago at a hotel. They were reused all the time.
