I'll start:

High waisted trousers with crop tops
Lip liner that goes over the top of cupid's bow

Pneumatic bosoms and arses....
Duck lips and slug eyebrows are already passe but word has not yet fully gone round.

Dailyhandtowelwash · 27/03/2021 15:36

I suspect people who struggle to stand up are already aware that they are overweight, and probably feel unhealthy, so not sure what value is added by commenting on it?

Houlyerwhisht · 27/03/2021 15:55

I'd take wax melts (which I get from Poundstretcher, so much cheaper than candles) and Cockapoos out of Room 101 as well.

EggBobbin · 27/03/2021 15:57

@toconclude it’s just so ubiquitous right now though. Everywhere I turn something about Malta- give it a rest!

DK123 · 27/03/2021 16:11

Grey interiors
Big eyebrows, especially the ones that are combed upwards in a weird direction
The pinky/red/orange eyeshadows
Crop tops
Cycling shorts
Chunky trainers
The tons of plastic surgery look
That weird pose with legs spread and the tongue sticking out one

I find the "cook" "sleep" "bathe" signs really naff. I have some my friend got me as a joke gift because I complained about them so much, so I put them in the wrong rooms for a laugh, much better!

whetherpigshavewings · 27/03/2021 16:33

Yiu don't know how healthy someone is by looking at them though. So how does this work?

being slim doesn't have to mean healthy

but being overweight by definition means UNhealthy...

whetherpigshavewings · 27/03/2021 16:37

@Dailyhandtowelwash

you can't state that someone is overweight without being accused of "fat shaming", it's the opposite of abuse, but we need to stop normalising unhealthy behaviour.

We’re not talking about simply ‘stating someone is overweight’ and I think you know that.

we are actually, trying to be goady doesn't change that.

MN is a prime example, you can't make a comment about clothes size and vanity sizing, about the size of a seat, about portion size or the size of crips bags or whatever, without someone popping up and accuse you of being a "fat-shamer"!

meemaww · 27/03/2021 16:54

Instagram with any luck! 😬

WhereYouLeftIt · 27/03/2021 17:08

Huge painted-on eyebrows.

Injected lips.

Beards where the line between hair and no-hair is so sharp you wonder if it's been sprayed onto the face using a stencil.

Dailyhandtowelwash · 27/03/2021 17:10

Why are you still posting those things? All those subjects have been done to death. I don’t think anyone who reads MN regularly is under any illusion that a sizeable number of posters want everyone to think about their size. Job done.

gonewiththegin · 27/03/2021 17:17

Laminated eyebrows!

meemaww · 27/03/2021 17:30

I’m also going to say ‘nice white bathrooms’ in the vain hope that my shit green bathroom suite will miraculously be fashionable again! 🤢🤮

SooMoony · 27/03/2021 17:42

WTF are laminated eyebrows?

SapphireSeptember · 27/03/2021 18:28

@DK123
Hey! I've been wearing pink/red/orange eyeshadows before they were cool! 😋 And I'll still be wearing them when they're seen as uncool again...
I'm slightly sick of the various shades of beige lipstick I see around at the moment, it's dull. Only a few years ago bright colours ruled, and it seems harder to find the kinds of shades I like now. Obviously there's still bright pinks and reds and oranges and the odd purple, but I like green and blue and grey too! (My lipstick stash has every colour of the rainbow! And then some.) But nothing very exciting has been released lately. (Although at least my bank account will be happy.)

@Juliesipadwillcallyouback

Metro tiles with dark grout giving off the '1950s public toilet' vibe Matt black bathroom fittings Fake panelling Definitely grey! Open plan kitchen/living room extensions with bifolding doors, will definitely be the 'conservatory' of this era. Recessed lighting Dark grey/black metal window frames, doors etc

On a slightly different note: allowing minors to go onto a pathway of unlicenced off label drugs which at best stunt their bone and brain development, because those minors do not fit society's expectation of boy or girl.

I did the metro tiles thing with the dark grout and I can confirm I think of a public toilet every damn time...
DK123 · 27/03/2021 18:37

@SapphireSeptember sorry! It's not the colour I don't like (it really suits some people), it's just always a bit Hmm when everyone has identical makeup. People should just wear what they like and what suits them!

Libraryghost · 27/03/2021 18:42

Back in the early 80s my parents had the living room and hallway artexed. Great big swirly patterns everywhere, bloody hideous. My mum always says since that day every time she gets a ‘ I know what would look nice’ moment she goes for a lie down.

I feel your pain, ours is blue, the walls, the sink and even the bath 😳

@whetherpigshavewings

People will definitely be embarrassed in the future about the amount of flying that has gone on. Flygskam (flight shaming) is already a thing in Sweden.

Just because you make up a new word doesn't mean people will change behaviour. A few will of course, but Sweden is not really frowning at visiting tourists funnily enough.

People have families, have holiday homes, have a life. We are not going to start going on ship and cruises when it's so much faster to fly.

Europe could improve their train system and relaunch night trains, that could possibly help.

Flying is not coming to an end, London airports are still very much going on with their extra runways! If nothing else, it's predicted that air traffic will increase. The tourism and travel industry need it anyway.

Oh definitely don’t go on cruises, they are also awful for the environment. But there are actually already a good number of night trains in Europe, I have taken them myself. Interrailing is very popular for young people. People will be embarrassed that they felt they had the right to destroy the environment so they could spend a week on a sun lounger. Especially given it takes max 2 days to get to France, Spain, Italy etc by train from GB. Maybe it won’t be within 5 years, but certainly future generations will look back and wonder what we were thinking and why we didn’t bother to decarbonise sooner.
ElephantsNest · 27/03/2021 20:09

Definitely flight shaming. Already there is shaming of people who go on ‘fly and flop’ holidays. Slow travel by luxury train or yacht will be seen as more aspirational and environmentally responsible.

Lincslady53 · 27/03/2021 20:11

Staying in every night of the week.

Parker231 · 27/03/2021 20:12

I’ll never be embarrassed about the amount of travel we do - long and short haul. We don’t have any family in the U.K. so travel frequently to see them. As soon as restrictions are lifted we’ll be booking our flights. Can’t wait.
