Bleeding early pregnancy

I’m pretty sure I know the answer to this!

I’ve had 2 miscarriages in the last year. I think I am currently having my third very early miscarriage.

I took a test at 9dpo (I know this is early but i couldn’t help it). It was positive and said 1-2 weeks.

At 12dpo I started having some bleeding. Lasted that day and the next. Not as heavy as a period but definitely more than spotting.

I am now 14dpo and had a clear blue pregnancy test left. I took it thinking it may have gone down to not pregnant and it is 2-3 weeks. I’m just surprised the hormones are still so high. I wouldn’t have expected it to be 2-3 weeks even if I hadn’t bled!

Just wondered if anyone else has experienced anything similar xx

I’ve been pregnant 3 times and had bleeding every time (right into 2nd trimester even). Only one of those times ended in miscarriage. It’s not a given at all. Good luck.

Re hcg levels- it can take a few weeks if they are going down. Or it may not be a miscarriage. Only a scan will show you and you probably wont see much until around 6 weeks unfortunately.

I had this in pregnancy no 3- constant bleeding for several days and I was absolutely sure it was a miscarriage. EPU confirmed that this wasn’t the case however.

Yeah it’s been pretty horrendous bleeding so I’m pretty sure what’s happened but the hcg levels are actually going up rather than going down?
Will have to see what bloods and scan show next week but just hoping the levels come down soon.

So I’ve been for an early scan today after all the bleeding. I’ve been told by all doctors that I will have miscarried but my hcg levels came back at 33,000. They then discussed a molar pregnancy.
Anyway, the scan shows the baby is still there (I would be about 6 weeks today) but the heartbeat is slow. Got to go back in a week. Just wondered if anyone else had this.
Still not holding out much hope but better than I thought!

@HKN1 hi! Hope you're okay.. I personally don't have any experience but my friends had a MC and she had the typical bleed with clots, then went to the hospital for a blood test a couple of days later and her levels had completely dropped and the baby had come away in the clotted bleed.. so I would say although the heartbeat is slow, you're very much still pregnant so I'm keeping everything crossed that baby stays put for you 🤞🏽

I had a full on gushing bleed lasting days, was scanned and told not to expect anything to show. There was a heartbeat and now DS is almost 4.

So I didn't realise I was pregnant and thought I'd had a very light period at the start of the month then the heaviest period I have ever experienced at the end of the month - clots, just yuck.. had I known I was pregnant I would have assumed it was a miscarriage and I don't rule out that I may have miscarried a non identical twin. Felt poorly in Feb and well all my bones ached as in my first pregancy. Test was positive. I assumed I'd got pregnant after the bleeds but when I went for the 12 week scan this massive baby appeared and they said I was nearer 20 weeks. Massive baby is now 21! I had two bleeds in very early pregancy - the second one - I'm amazed he stayed put. Fingers crossed for you.

I’m just updating in case anyone else reads this post (as I’ve looked at quite a lot of posts and often there is no conclusion).
We went back for another scan today and I am 7 weeks pregnant. Heartbeat fine and baby at right size. It’s still obviously very early days but keeping everything crossed.
There is no explanation for the bleeding and I am still experiencing some spotting every few days.
It will now be a very long wait until my 12 week scan xx

I thought I’d was miscarrying DS many times as I had lots of episodes of bleeding until 16 weeks. He’s now a strapping 6ft 15 year old.

With DS1 I had really heavy red bleeding on and off throughout my entire pregnancy. It was an emotional rollercoaster and they never could find any explanation for the bleeding. Just kept getting whipped in for scans when it happened but all was miraculously fine. DS1 is now almost 6.

Will be keeping my fingers crossed that you have a successful and healthy pregnancy OP

I had a miscarriage then bleeding like you described with my second pregnancy after positive test. I was about 6 weeks pregnant I thought and so was referred to early preg unit. There was a healthy heartbeat visible but was only 5 weeks pregnant. I still bled for at least another week or two and was scared to wipe after peeing as I didn’t want to see the blood. I kept expecting a miscarriage but it eventually stopped. I went on to have a healthy pregnancy. I Don’t want to plant false hope but my bleeding was just like my first miscarriage so I assumed the worst and then it wasn’t.

I do know someone who had a "period" throughout pregnancy, she didn't realise she was pregnant until after 20 weeks as she assumed the bleeding was an actual period. The baby arrived not long ago, completely healthy.

Just seen the most recent posts. We had a 16 week scan yesterday and all seems ok. Also found out we are having a girl which is nice as we already have a boy. Bleeding went on for weeks but seems to have stopped now :)
