To audition for a film even though I’ve never acted?

Flyer calling for people with my accent to apply for a new project. No acting experience required. Well known director.
My last acting role was my school play when I was 11 years old as an extra 😂

They want a 1 minute video sent in ... it seems so unlikely but what if? Also should I mention my autism on the clip or would that look too try hard?

Argh!! Always dreamt of being an actress but I always knew it was a fantasy, this would be the first time I ever actually tried it! I’m a frumpy, 49 year old woman

Go for it definitely!! I was in Marcella 1st series, I have never acted before. All the professional actors thought I was a professional including a certain actor who has been in numerous films/Tv including Star Wars. It's a great experience don't let anything put you off!! Good luck Star

I am really excited for you. It's such a random thing to do but could be loads of fun and lead to.. well, who knows?

Go for it Grin

Do it but I wouldn’t mention the autism as that doesn’t define you. You’re you primarily and you have autism. Good luck op!!

Surely the point of acting is that you can do accents - so why do they need to find someone who has the accent?

But also, send me the link as I'm in Yorkshire Grin

Have you ever heard Sean Bean trying to do an American accent? 😂

Don’t you need an Equity card?

This doesn’t sound at all legit to me. Have you looked in to it to make sure it’s not dodgy or a scam?

If they just need locals to be extras then maybe, but otherwise I’d be suspicious. Sorry, OP.

Of course do go for it if it does turn out to be real. But I’d be wary.

VestaTilley · 26/03/2021 11:03

Ah ok! Just seen it’s Shane Meadows.

Yes, go for it!

TimeIhadaNameChange · 26/03/2021 11:10

Could you tell a story from your childhood? Your accent might naturally broaden, and if you can get some local placenames in too that might help. But I'm making this up so feel free to ignore me!

CorianderBee · 26/03/2021 11:52

Oh, I'd love to do this. I fit all the categories, but just don't see how I could fit it around a full time job 😂

Madcats · 26/03/2021 15:11

OP I think you should sit down and watch a few episodes of Extras (It is still on iPlayer): www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episodes/b0070rj8/extras

It's not necessary any more to join equity.
clpsmum · 12/04/2021 08:58

Did you do it OP?

Abraxan · 12/04/2021 09:04

@LunaNorth

This sounds very thick, but it says on the flyer to label the video with your name.

How?

Rename the file to include your name?
