Croydon flats - on the news

Blinkinblimey · 22/03/2021 22:19

I just saw a family in sopping wet flats where they were at risk of electrocution.

Fucking horrendous. You wouldn’t want to visit let alone live there.

How do housing teams allow this to happen? It really shouldn’t take the 10 o’ clock news to highlight appalling living conditions.

Feel so sad and angry.

@MercyBooth thank you for flagging this up. I’m so angry that Clarion has been exonerated. Just HOW BAD would it have to have found them guilty… the mind boggles.

How is it not a criminal offence to force people to live in such terrible backward conditions?

I hope that ITV and Dan Hewitt continue to hold this bunch of arseholes to account.

They need someone to go in under cover working for clarion - I cannot believe they didn’t speak to one fucking tenant
That’s so shocking

Who owns the property featured?
Clarion Housing Association.
They have been exonerated.

The flats in Croydon (the "sopping wet flats" in the op) are owned by Croydon Council - LB Croydon haven't been exonerated;

20 May 2021 Regulatory Finding
The regulator has concluded that:

a) London Borough of Croydon (LB Croydon) has breached the Home Standard and the Tenant Involvement and Empowerment Standard; and

b) As a consequence of this breach, there was actual and potential serious detriment to LB Croydon’s tenants.

The regulator will work with LB Croydon as it seeks to remedy this breach and will continue to consider what further action may need to be taken.

Woman crushed by ceiling collapse as ITV News exposes yet more social housing failures

Poor Adeola! I am shocked that this has got to the point of ceiling collapse.

And the neighbour Basil too - it is beyond unacceptable that he should STILL have to empty buckets of water daily from the leak but when he also has a disability. This beggars belief. It’s like I’m reading reports from a third world country that doesn’t give two shits about its people. Confused

Tenants definitely need more power in this situation.

This is UTTERLY SHAMEFUL.

Is the MP involved in helping get these tenants some better accommodation?
