To need some help re isolation rules?

I babysat for a neighbour a few days ago (yes I know I shouldn't have but he had no one else to ask at short notice and I wanted to help). They never told me that the little girls nan was waiting on covid results, otherwise I would have said no. Nan has since tested positive. The little girl sees her nan almost daily, has no symptoms herself but her and her dad are waiting on test results now too. I've obviously not been in direct contact with the nan so haven't been contacted by test and trace but I don't know the procedure here. Should I be isolating just incase? Or am I fine to go to work etc unless contacted?

I did call the helpline and the woman said to go to work as normal but wear a mask and gloves if I don't already until the little girls results come in. That didn't sound right so if anyone can help?

You haven't had direct contact with the positive case so you don't need to isolate. You only need to isolate if the child gets symptoms and you were in contact with the child in the 48 hours before they got those symptoms.

@dementedpixie Thank you so much for replying. I've been very fortunate to not know anyone directly who has had covid so haven't had to isolate at all and really didn't know what to do!
