To be offended by the thing oh said whilst dreaming last night..?

For context he is scared of wolves and often dreams about them.

And also for context my mother has the kind of issues which make her decidedly unpleasant in close relationships.

So should I be offended that last night he turned to me, whilst clearly dreaming, and with quite some anger, said ‘you are really JUST like your mother’.
And then growled. (!)

Do you think I’m being unreasonable to take this personally, or should I tell myself dreams are not to be taken seriously by those who happen to hear..?

Make me feel better: hit me with the weirdo things your partner has told you whilst asleep..😳

I had a whole conversation with my husband where he was quite insistent that we must immediately go to The Bird Place and upon my response that I had no idea what the Bird Place was he became quite distressed. “You KNOW, the Bird Place, THE BIRD PLACE, we have to go!!!”

I recently dreamed that I was on X Factor singing 18 And Life by Skid Row because apparently TV is crying out for middle aged women performing 80s hair metal, well of course I was actually singing it in my sleep and I can only imagine how horrendous it sounded.

DuckbilledSplatterPuff · 23/03/2021 01:10

If he was dreaming. You don't know he was speaking to you.

CarrieMoonbeams · 23/03/2021 01:14

DH has lots of those "chasing rabbits" type of dreams, like the dogs do, his legs are going like the clappers!

He often does the muffled scream too, sounds like he's trying to shout through a mouthful of toffee. I always waken him up from those ones, they must be scary.

Apart from that, it's mostly just random words or short phrases. Last night's was "and this, in Oxfam too" in an outraged voice like the couple on the Catherine Tate show!

MollyBloomYes · 23/03/2021 01:32

These are brilliant! I love sleep talking and various nonsense (not snoring though, that just makes me feel stabby). Apparently I've been known to sleep talk but nothing particularly memorable. My children however both mutter away so I'm hoping this develops into full sentences of ludicrous proportions at some points. DS6 has giggled in his sleep since he was a baby and it's full on belly laughs and adorable. In fact the first time he laughed was in his sleep!

wendywoopywoo222 · 23/03/2021 01:39

I woke up recently shouting at my partner that if I ever wake up again and I'm a chicken there's going to be trouble.

I talk a lot and sometimes he joins in the conversation and I wake up mid sentence wondering what he is talking about. Im often very cross with him as he finds it funny to argue with me when I'm asleep. We laugh a lot at it.

Lofari · 23/03/2021 02:01

I have found my people! Both my DH and DD are major sleep talkers. The other night DD was ranting about the cat, I heard her say 'don't think I don't know, im watching you cat!' The poor cat was laid at her feet looking so confused.
My DH.....oh we've had some pearlers. He has told me to 'taste the rainbow', gone looking for parrots (never had one) asked me if I too could see the mermaid, and got very upset by a Roman army storming through our bedroom.

Moelwynbach · 23/03/2021 02:05

My husband once jumped out of bed grabbed his coat and started rambling about with his wellies on. I was half asleep and he dragged me out of bed. He felt we needed to go and collect the eggs that were over flowing from the chicken coop. We have a back yard and no chickens.

MarkRuffaloCrumble · 23/03/2021 02:12

My DP once dreamed that I was a monster who was trying to kill his family so he caved my head in with a rock. He has some savage dreams and sometimes wakes up in a bit of a state.

I used to be quite understanding until this one, when I felt quite hurt that his subconscious thinks I’m a threat to his family and wants to kill me! So now I just put in earplugs and sleep through it. Thankfully I don’t think he’s had any that bad for a while.

I often dream that he’s cheated on me etc and get very cross with him for the rest of the day Grin. Stupid dreams.

MarkRuffaloCrumble · 23/03/2021 02:13

Oh and both DP and XH have (separate of course Grin ) woken me in a panic saying “don’t move there’s a massive spider” and then gone straight back to sleep. The absolute fuckers.

TheNestedIf · 23/03/2021 02:21

I once woke an ex up by exclaiming "Oh, look! A kitten!", which I dreamed was peeping over the edge of the bed. He, in turn woke me up by worriedly demanding "Where?! Where?!" followed by a very unimpressed "Have you been dreaming again?" That was an in-joke for years.

I also, at times of enormous stress, have occasionally gone sleepwalking. The most amusing was when I gave the cats their breakfast in the middle of the night. That was confusing when I went to feed them the next morning and found their bowls already contained tuna.

Lesssaideasymended · 23/03/2021 02:54

I sleep walk, which once involved running around a B&B in Edinburgh while my friends tried to catch me to bring me back to bed 😳 my DS also talks in sleep, usually about food, and sometimes sleep walks. Got up one night, peed on the armchair & went back to bed 🤷🏼‍♀️

LoveFall · 23/03/2021 03:57

My DH doesn't talk, but he has nailed me with some pretty hard kicks. If I wake him he says he was fighting someone off. I don't take offense, although it is a bit of a rude awakening. Funnily enough, he did it last night.

Apparently I am the one who talks. I'm told I have long conversations with the dog. Said dog definitely dreams, twitching and yipping.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 23/03/2021 04:26

Im sorry on but 😂😂😂😂. I can just imagine Mr Wolf growling to Mrs Wolf and saying "You really are just like your mother" .

Lochmorlich · 23/03/2021 04:28

I've woken up to dh rolling up the duvet and putting it under the bed whilst muttering about removing all the spiders in the morning.
The worst are his dreams that I'm falling which involve him grabbing me, once this was around my neck, to try and 'save' me. I sometimes scream when I'm woken like this.

Apparently my mil used to walk into the kitchen and turn all the gas rings on at the cooker with fil following and turning them off again. She also used to wake up to her clothes neatly folded under her pillow.

Cowmilk · 23/03/2021 06:13

Dh sleep talks when he is stressed. I been told off for not putting confidential documents somewhere safe and how lucky I was he found them and not the manager. Or I would have lost my job and found it very hard to find another job. This is my last chance! I apologised to him and he ended up forgiving “me” and went back to sleep.

I have also been asked where I put the keys to the filling cabinet. I said I gave it to the manager and he fell asleep happy.

When I was pregnant with ds3 he grabbed me and asked me what is the baby’s name? I was only 7 weeks pregnant at the time with no name prepared so I said I don’t know. He then asked me if the hospital bag was ready. I said no. He growled at me and said do I have to do everything myself? I asked him do you have a name prepared? He said yes, Bob (not real name)! Then went to sleep. We ended up naming ds3 that name when he was born. Dh is very happy to have predicted ds3 sex correctly at 7 weeks.

Dh always apologies in the morning when I tell him what he has said.

bjjgirl · 23/03/2021 06:35

This girl sleep walks by and posts the videos they are amazing!

I in times of stress have jumped out of bed ran to the kitchen and grabbed a knife to protect the house

I scram /beg /sob in my sleep

I have punched the person sleeping beside me believing they were attacking me etc

I do suffer with ptsd and since medication jt has stoped

To be offended by the thing oh said whilst dreaming last night..?
GuidoTheKillerPimp · 30/03/2021 12:48

Mine asked where he was, and when I told him we were in our bedroom, he told me that it couldn’t be right, because he lives here with his girlfriend, [inserts the name of his ex wife]. He was mystified and mortified the following morning.

Obviously, I never remind him of it Grin

Graymare · 30/03/2021 13:13

DP is usually quite sweet when he sleep talks and often says he loves me etc. However there was one memorable occasion when he rolled over, cuddled me and declared you are one sexy whale!
I am not particularly whale like in any way Confused

BanningTheWordNaice · 30/03/2021 13:16

I once pinned someone to the bed in my sleep because I dreamt they were a demon. I did not think my boyfriend was a demon in reality.

Sweetpea1532 · 30/03/2021 22:46

@graymare
Your poor DH😂😂😂😂😂

SingingSands · 30/03/2021 23:01

My DH talks in his sleep every night, sits up, gets out of bed, "sees" things. He went through a phase of shouting in German for months, that was weird.
Funniest time was when he was obviously dreaming he was in a bar taking orders from his mates "Barry, Barry! What you drinking? Pint, yeah? Tom! Mate! Pint, yeah?" And it went on for ages, I was properly shaking with laughter 😂

Lofari · 31/03/2021 02:41

DH has just said in his sleep 'we need to find all the socks!'
What a boring dream!

sykadelic · 31/03/2021 03:32

My DH got the raw end of this one... I punched him in the face, twice, b/c I was dreaming there was a spider next to me. The first time I hit it (i.e. him) I remember thinking it felt warm so I went back for more. This happened a couple years ago, he's still traumatised.

I also have a habit of saying "are you done?" in not a very nice tone.
