To be offended by the thing oh said whilst dreaming last night..?

For context he is scared of wolves and often dreams about them.

And also for context my mother has the kind of issues which make her decidedly unpleasant in close relationships.

So should I be offended that last night he turned to me, whilst clearly dreaming, and with quite some anger, said ‘you are really JUST like your mother’.
And then growled. (!)

Do you think I’m being unreasonable to take this personally, or should I tell myself dreams are not to be taken seriously by those who happen to hear..?

Make me feel better: hit me with the weirdo things your partner has told you whilst asleep..😳

I was woken abruptly once by the covers and pillows being thrown around. When I asked DH what the bloody hell he was doing, he said 'looking for the car keys'. Then he curled up in a ball and snored.

Another time he was having a lengthy muttered conversation. I told him to shut up and he said very clearly 'But it's my battleship and they can't have it'. No, he doesn't have a battleship if you're wondering Grin

VeganVeal · 21/03/2021 12:32

He knew what he was saying, then the old 'I must have been dreaming' line in the morning.

Get your ducks in a row, LTB and log it with 101

My ex-BF once told me off for having 20 cats on the bed.
Of course we didn't have a cat, let alone 20.

I once dreamt that I was in a long term, stable relationship with a biscuit. Chocolate biscuit exactly.

Holothane · 21/03/2021 13:05

We both talk 9n our sleep we both laugh about it.

thetwinkletoescollective · 21/03/2021 13:26

I have been told to 'hold the pen', 'bear with me, just bear with me' and 'You are a f-ing c*t bi*ch' in a wierd 'demon voice'.

Not very nice in the middle of the night.

TommytheSquirrell · 21/03/2021 13:30

That’s actually really funny! I wouldn’t take offence.

Mine sings away really creepily, laughs manically and swears occasionally. Sometimes he says the most bizzare things, I find it hilarious. Once he had a full on argument with me (himself) about a glass of water.

Although I’m maybe more relaxed about it because when I’m stressed I’ve been known to scream very loudly and very randomly in the middle of the night, he gets a massive fright. I also talk a lot about cats for some odd reason in my sleep Confused

We try not to have people to stay to often Grin

Bigpinkslippers · 21/03/2021 13:31

Woke once when DH pulled the duvet back and was brushing something off my legs. When I asked what he was doing, he snapped, I'm just getting rid of all the drawing pins, obviously! Then promptly went back to sleep. I was a bit 🤔

Bugslydoo · 21/03/2021 13:37

I talk all the time in my sleep, hubby records it if he wakes up to me waffling away and plays it for me the next morning. I’ve told him that there are ducks in the bed walking sideways-they must think they are crabs 😂
Ive also grabbed the duvet off him and said it’s my tent now fuck off....
Screamed in his ear quite a few times, told him we can’t eat here the food isn’t Kosher(??)
I manically laugh quite a lot too in my sleep!

SplendidSuns1000 · 21/03/2021 13:39

DH went through a phase of sitting up in his sleep and asking why I was in his bed!

I did break his nose once by attacking him in my sleep thinking he was a bear!

The usual one is me dreaming about a spider in the bedsheets and yelling at DH to help me squish it

Peppaismyrolemodel · 21/03/2021 13:41

Yes he does sometimes sing too- hymns mostly (misspent youth). This is much nicer and sometimes coincides with ds waking to request ‘more sing-sing daddy’ .. which daddy obediently supplies 😬

I'm beginning to think my DH is overworked, the only thing he ever says/does in his sleep is his job. So imagine he's say a driving instructor he's giving directions (complete with hand movements) and correcting his 'student's' mistakes etc, very funny to watch but does worry me that he clearly can't switch off even when he's asleep!

BigFatLiar · 21/03/2021 13:56

I used to sleep walk and talk. It seemed as if I was awake but in the morning had no idea. Alright when I was young but as I got older Blush. Apparently I had a chat with my mum about what I got up to with my boyfriend (now dh). She didn't tell me what I'd said only that she hoped I was being careful.

FuckingFabulous · 21/03/2021 14:02

Mine has a habit of saying really lovely things to me when he's waking from dreaming, or being especially amorous, passionately kissing me and stroking my hair. And he never remembers it when he's properly awake. That makes me really annoyed!

Zakidoodles23 · 21/03/2021 14:19

My husband has night terrors so will often wake me. The most frequent one is that there is an old lady standing at the end of the bed. The worst one for me was when he was convinced a spider had dropped on to the bed and I jumped out of bed terrified. The funniest one was when he started shouting that someone had hold of his arm. It turned out he was holding it with the other hand lol

Caramelsmadfuzzytail · 21/03/2021 14:58

I sleepwalked (?) Once. To my sisters bedroom, turned her light on, said "you don't mind do you?", turned around and went back to bed. I have no recollection of doing this.
She went ape at me the next morning, convinced I did it on purpose. I was wtf would I get out of my bed, in the middle of the night, just to annoy you?

Fnib · 21/03/2021 15:02

This would be good on the AIBU podcast. I just read several of the OP's posts out loud to DH 😂😂

Apocalyptichorsewoman · 21/03/2021 15:05

I woke myself up shouting the other morning 😳 I was an airline pilot and I switched on the passenger intercom and shouted

" I'm the pilot- I'm flying this fecking plane! 😠 Now sit down, buckle up, mask on, and shut up! And we are not, I repeat NOT - stopping off in Belgium! "

I'm a nurse, not a pilot...

Dogscanteatonions · 21/03/2021 15:43

Dp told me last night I had to do the song at the wedding because I sing better than Prince Andrew.

Themusicis0utside · 21/03/2021 16:10

A work colleague had a nightmare that he was inside a Breville sandwich toaster. He woke up and somehow found himself trapped inside the duvet cover on his bed....

hellsbellswithcherryontop · 21/03/2021 16:28

I once told dc1 to "fuck off and go back to bed" when they came in to tell me they were having an asthma attack on the middle of the nightBlush, I had no recollection of it when I woke up. Thankfully at 12yrs old they found it highly amusing that I had sworn at them in my sleep, it's not something I do normally when I'm awake

Rowgtfc72 · 21/03/2021 18:10

Dh has woken me before sat bolt upright in bed clapping. He was chasing seagulls. Hes also chased sheep.
Sat up faffing with the pillows and when asked he was sorting socks and none of them matched.
Scariest was when he took my pillow out from under me and ripped the quilt off the top of me screaming spiders. Spiders everywhere. I hate spiders. Once I'd established he was still asleep I had to leave him in the corner of the room whilst I remade the bed and put him back in it.

ChristmasArmadillo · 21/03/2021 18:12

My DH is a military pilot. I’m often treated to him landing planes loudly at 2am.

PainAgain · 21/03/2021 18:19

My DP is regularly annoyed about terrible things I've done to him in his dreams. I'm quite nice in real life, honestly.

He's also hit, throttled, smothered and otherwise variously attacked me whilst asleep, believing that I'm a zombie, alien or other creature. I have a separate bedroom now.

Luxplus · 21/03/2021 18:23

My dh often talks in his sleep in Indonesian. Blush.. I have no idea what he is talking about and he doesn't remember a thing in the mornings... Grin
