To think about fostering in a couple of years?

We have 4 DC- 22 18 11 and 9. Twins due in may.

Fostering is something me and DH have thought about for a while. It won’t be for another 5 years say when our twins will be at school FT and the eldest 2 will of well flown the nest (eldest 200 miles away at uni and won’t be coming home after and 18yo is going to same uni and talking doing the same). 11yo will be nearly 17, and our 9yo will be just 15. And then our twins will be 5. We have plenty of room- we have a 6 bed house.

DH had a difficult upbringing, non supportive family and vvvv rarely has contact even out of lockdown (maybe 2/3 times a year for a day visit) and he likes the thought of supporting a child who hasn’t had the best of starts.

We both own our own businesses, DH hoping to semi retire in 5 years anyway. I will want to keep working ideally...But again hoping things pick up post Covid and we properly think about it we could be in a position where I don’t work and DH works PT or vice versa.

Has anyone fostered/is a foster parent? Would love to hear some experiences...

There's a fostering board on here, try there?
