and a bit bored...what are you doing right now on this Friday night and what are your weekend plans?
I’m sat on the sofa at home in Portugal, watching Corrie, eating Lidl chocolate mousse and crisp & mayo butties (Friday night or my eating crap night!) haven’t drank since April, so crisps are my thing.
Toddler Dd has gone to bed with Dp.
Need ideas for what to do for a lockdown weekend 🤔 maybe more painting, picnic in woods with dog and Dd, something nice to cook 🤷🏻‍♀️

Tv, mumsnet and messaging my lovely friend in between - she has just moved into her dream home today and I’m so happy for her, though sad cos she has moved to a different part of the country. Her new house and location is perfect for her though so it’s a dream come true and her happiness is so contagious

nokidshere · 19/03/2021 21:15

@EssexLioness

It's called Blitz Spirit with Lucy Worsley - it was a couple of weeks ago so it should be on iplayer. As good as ever although her make-up looks a little bonkers 😂

Passthecake30 · 19/03/2021 21:15

Ds is on a zoom scouts meeting
The rest of us are watching comic relief, dp bday so we’ve had a nice meal and wine.
Weekend will consist of taking my car for a drive (so it keeps working, I have nowhere to actually go!), housework and walking.

IReallyNeedMoreGin · 19/03/2021 21:17

Getting a foot massage off the DH. So proper chilled out right now! Running tomorrow then work Sunday.

Boatonthehorizon · 19/03/2021 21:19

Watching comic relief. Its great.
A list stars all night long.

It seems most people are too snobby to watch real tv nowadays though.

KurtWilde · 19/03/2021 21:20

DC watching YouTube, I've just sat down after walking the dogs and I'm considering eating a full tub of Ben and Jerry's chocolate brownie out of boredom. Visiting adult DD tomorrow as she's close to her due date and we're helping her finish off baby's room.

Shodan · 19/03/2021 21:21

I went for a Virtuous Run earlier, and promptly undid all my good work by having a hot cross bun and a bar of Daim Milka.

Then spent forever looking for white wardrobes with sliding doors, hanging rails and NO SODDING MIRRORS ON THE SODDING DOORS FFS because the last thing I need is to have mirrors right opposite the bed.

This weekend- probably a thrilling walk/hike with my two boys- we're (hopefully) going to walk up Mount Snowdon in the summer so need to do a bit of training. And more searching for wardrobes/carpet/vinyl flooring (major overhaul of the house, all to my taste now XH doesn't live here any more. Except I'm not really cut out for interior design so it makes my brain hurt)

Will also try not to eat any more crap.

MinnieJackson · 19/03/2021 21:25

Done naff all. Think I'm just going to go to bed.
Maybe go to the park tomorrow, my middle son wants to make a cake. Think there's some rugby on telly so I'll probably have a long bath while dh watches that. Meh.

HairboStrawb · 19/03/2021 21:25

DS 2.5 is asleep in bed, me and DP watching the football. DP is working all weekend so me and DS will do the shopping in the morning and then probably go for a walk and maybe out on his bike in the afternoon depending on the weather

SplendidSuns1000 · 19/03/2021 21:35

I've been doing a big spring clean today so now I'm lounging on the sofa while DH sorts dinner (wearing only an apron, might I add). We're having sweet chili chicken pizza and I intend to finish at least one bottle of red before bedtime. It's a late dinner for us tonight because spring cleaning allows us to eat a sharing bag of maltesers each and half a tonne of pringles at normal dinner time... Grin

Weekend plans include re-painting the floorboards in my workshop/office, tackling some ivy taking over DH's workshop and then going on a sort of roadtrip to collect some things for DH's work. It's about 3 hours there and back but I've packed enough snacks and CD's to last us a good week. We also have someone coming to give us a quote to re-thatch our roof on Sunday (which is a ridiculously drawn-out process because the house is over 500 years old and requires listed building consent for everything)

SeaToSki · 19/03/2021 21:45

In the bath with a glass of wine while DS 1 is meant to be cooking dinner and DH is (distracting) chatting to him. DD is finishing some writing homework, DS 2 is bugging DS 3 about playing super smash bros on the switch but DS 3 isnt keen as DS 2 is so much better than him

Tomorrow we ski (we are in East Coast US) and it will be very soft but sunshiny and fun, Sunday will be cooking, cleaning and homework for the DC. DH will hopefully crack on with some woodworking projects I am looking forward to getting installed.

And can someone explain to me how to do the strike through thing, I keep trying and failing

ThatOtherPoster · 19/03/2021 22:00

@Shodan - IKEA wardrobes are good, as you choose the doors yourself. Ours are plain white, but they do all kinds of finishes (I wish I’d gone the glossy white, tbh). They deliver, if you CBA to lug it all yourself.

Good luck! I remember transforming my house after EXH left. It was lovely. Making everything to my taste and getting rid of his fugly shite - bliss! The only bad thing was that I discovered it’s really hard putting pictures up by yourself.

ThatOtherPoster · 19/03/2021 22:04

@SeaToSki And can someone explain to me how to do the strike through thing, I keep trying and failing

You put two dashes next to each other before the first word you want to strike out, and after the last. No spaces between the dashes, or between the dashes and the word.

I think autocorrect messes it up on a phone, as it changes the two dashes into a long dash, which doesn’t work.

—like here: the phone has changed the dashes so it doesn’t work—

fitflopqueen · 19/03/2021 22:15

Currently playing a game online, on 2nd G&T, waiting for DH to get bored/fall asleep so that I can finish watching Netflix series. Two dogs vying for position next to me on sofa.

Working over the weekend but always out for a decent walk both mornings. Weekends are the same as weekdays now.

EssexLioness · 19/03/2021 22:15

@nokidshere ah thank you! Yes I watched that while it was on and thought it was lovely, although I agreed re the background noise.

Shodan · 19/03/2021 22:25

@ThatOtherPoster Oh thank you - I've mustered a bit more energy so I'll go and have a look at those.

LyndaSnellsSniff · 19/03/2021 22:31

DS had a Zoom Scouts quiz earlier. It was for the whole family and further confirmed my belief that quizzes do not bring out the best in me. We came second though. Drank wine, are chocolate.

Weekend plans include continuing to strip the painted lining paper from the walls in DS's bedroom. It's a slow job but deeply satisfying. I'm hoping I'll be left in peace to get on with it.

LoveFall · 19/03/2021 22:41

It's mid afternoon on a cold blustery day where I am on the west coast of Canada. Not very spring like but lots of daffodils blooming and birds singing their spring songs.

Just lay down for a nap and dog jumped up and is curled up beside me. Thawing home made pizza dough for dinner. DH just came back with pizza toppings from grocery store. Planning on watching the Netflix series on the college admission scandal in the US tonight.

Dreaming of and hoping for a visit to England this Fall to see DSS and family. We haven't seen them now for almost two years, which is a long time not to see young grandchildren.

We seem to be finally getting our act together here with vaccination, DH can call for an appointment tomorrow based on his age and I am told hopefully early April as I take an immunosuppressant. So looking forward to the horrible fear lessening.

I would love to be in Portugal too!

Whatwouldnanado · 19/03/2021 22:48

Had my jab yesterday and was up most of the night alternately sweating and freezing so taking it easy today. Chippy tea and red nose day on the telly. Jules Holland and Lenny Henry were great on BBC2 just now.

Ninkanink · 19/03/2021 22:54

I’m snuggled up in bed with DH. He’s watching a rather horrible Korean horror film so I’m trying not to pay much attention. MNing and virtual shopping (trying not to do any actual purchasing!).

We’ve had a couple of beers over the course of the evening and now we’re having our bedtime tea - camomile for him, Pukka nighttime something or other for me. I didn’t sleep well last night so I’m hoping I’ll have a restful sleep tonight!

Ninkanink · 19/03/2021 22:57

As for ideas for the weekend, tomorrow we’re going out for a drive and hopefully for a good walk, depending on weather. We’ll bring a ‘picnic’ lunch which we’ll eat in the car. We’re also going to visit our local farm shop to stock up on meat for the next two months. When we get back DH will make ciabatta. We’re going to have steak sandwiches for dinner, made with said freshly baked ciabatta.

Whenspringcomes · 19/03/2021 23:48

@LoveFall I think I’d like to be in Canada! How interesting, do you like living out there, what’s it like?

DD has come home from school with a streaming cold and is running a mild high temperature so I have just ordered a home Covid test. Will be spending my weekend worrying about her and feeling her head at every available opportunity.

CorianderBee · 20/03/2021 00:04

I am at home in London. I work at home now too, forever apparently. I went for a walk, got some beers, ate a vegan burger and watched the Netflix show about pirates

CorianderBee · 20/03/2021 00:05

This weekend we're cycling 3 hours, baking an apple cake, having sex and playing board games (we don't have kids yet)
