Just found out Simon Mayo is back on the radio at Drivetime

Nothing against Sara Cox but I just couldn't get on with her show (btw she's still at Radio 2, Simon Mayo's on Greatest Hits Radio now). It's annoying having adverts but it still feels all warm and fuzzy and familiar

Oh I am so glad I saw this, will be tuning in, I miss Simon! I can’t believe Steve Wright is still on, and radio 2 on a Sunday is awful. Wish we could hear more Sue Perkins, she superb as a stand in. Would love to hear more Rylan Clark and I love Dermot’s and Liza’s show on Saturday!

I only listen to Greatest Hits. I’m under 40 but I love the 70s/80s/90s stuff.

YANBU I have missed the show more than I can say!

I can’t stand Liza T - the way she draws out her words and talks in sentences where the beginning bears no relevance to the end. She’s awful!
It’s like she’s always scrambling round to fill the talking time and panicking inside as she has no idea what to say!

That's really strange. I was only thinking of Simon Mayo's drive time show earlier this week. Must've picked up on the ether that he was on air and I was missing it. Thanks for the post.

I love Ken too, he could do every show for me.
I don't mind Jeremy Vine but I prefer it when Vanessa does his show.
I don't get it with Steve Wright either, he's away loads now anyway, there's definitely a reason why they keep him, god knows what!

I thought I recognised him the other day. Greatest Hits is woeful (and I like pre-2000 music) so great to have him on board. It’s the only station I can get reception for for some of my drive home from work.

Greatest Hits Radio is on a gazillion different FM frequencies across England, as well as DAB:

It’s also going to take over Absolute Radio’s London FM frequency soon.

His radio 2 drive time show was such a comfortable and familiar and funny place to be. It was like eavesdropping on a group of mates. It was a big shock when the team got disbanded and he was paired up with Jo Wiley. There was a big backlash on social media, complaints to the BBC etc. I think a lot of people are nostalgic for what they lost.

I really liked the show but for me, the adverts were too annoying for words. Such a pity. As someone said up thread, let’s hope someone sponsors the show as always a treat to listen to Simon!

YANBU op, I've missed Simon and Matt at drivetime and am now listening via the app and although I generally hate radio with adverts I'm prepared to put up with it.
I liked Sara Cox when she stood in for Chris Evans but just haven't been able to get on board with her show and Zoe Ball I find unbearable to listen to.

As for the previous pp's who dissed Liza Tarbuck how very dare you! I download her show to listen to during the week .

Zoe’s annoying but muuuuuucccchhhh better than Chris Evans. His publicists over the years deserve a raise because they’re doing a tremendous job. He’s always been dreadful and a massive self promoter plus I cannot believe more wasn’t said about his pursuit of Billie.

Like Sarah Cox but I prefer Radio 6 and love Lauren Laverne.

Can't stand Simon Mayo. His voice gets on my wires. Although i did enjoy confessions. Liza, no, that bloody dog squeak wants shooting!

Don't mind Zoe, Sara is excellent along with Ken, Rylan and Demont.
