Or have they completely ruined Fairy Liquid?

I just opened a new bottle of "Fairy Classic" washing up liquid and the stench almost blew my head off. It smells like someone vomited up a tin of fruit cocktail.

Then I noticed… "New improved scent" tag on the front. It's disgusting!

Please someone tell me what I can purchase that smells like the old Fairy, or at least doesn't smell of rotting fruit.

YABU for not using an Eco friendly option that doesnt pollute our planet (or at least not pollute it quite so much as brands like fairy do)

@BaronessBomburst

Viakal is good for light (sink type) limescale

Domestos Toilet Cleaner Zero is good for thicker toilet limescale

Both have a tolerable (non citrusy) smell

YABU for using Fairy, it pollutes the ocean. Use environmentally liquid like Ecover.

Do some research on ecover if you're serious about your environmental concerns. There's friendlier products out there

Thank you!
I blame DS. He uses the downstairs loo the most, and the upstairs one doesn't have a scale problem.

I like the new scent! I'm going to stock up on it like I did with full-sugar ribena in case Fairy listens to the complaints and changes it back. I don't like the platinum one though.

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 24/03/2021 17:19

I'm not a fan of the new smell either. It isn't supposed to smell floral.

I agree it's harsh on hands — I very quickly bought washing-up gloves at university after thinking I'd be fine without. I wasn't!

Another vote for Aldi Magnum - the green one smells just like old Fairy when it used to be in the cylindrical white bottle! (showing my age!)

myBumJuiceSmellsLikeRoses · 25/03/2021 14:28

I don't know about the green one - but the Magnum Sensitive is marked with the Cruelty free Bunny logo too.

@LeSquigh

YABU for not using the far superior Fairy Platinum 🤣. I haven’t noticed that this smells like anything other than “normal” Fairy smell and the cleaning power is very much improved on the classic.
Didn't particularly think much of this until I realised I had ordered platinum on the shop this week. This poster is absolutely right. The lemon Fairy platinum smells better than normal lemon fairy washing up liquid.

So OP YABU for not purchasing fairy platinum

I used to use ecover however that lasts less than two weeks at £1.60 a bottle. Fairy lasts for 5 weeks or more for £1.80

Now I use the extra cash I save from making the switch to buy myself sweets.

Ecover doesn’t cut through grease unless you use half the bottle. Grin

The production of the plastic bottle ecover comes in is questionable . As is a lot of what sc Johnson and Johnson do who own ecover.
