To ask which toaster you have?

My son will only eat Warburton's toastie bread, but despite the name the bread does not fit in the toaster. It appears to be really tall bread in comparison to normal bread. Anyone have a toaster that fits Warburton's bread? Needs to be a 4 slice one. Please. I'm begging you.

Goes sideways in ours no problem, it's a cheap Russel Hobbs one, I'm not paying more for a toaster until my kids stop breaking them by popping the toast up after 1 second, then down, then up etc.

I got it on amazon for £20ish.

RandomLondoner · 16/03/2021 10:20

Apparently British bread is taller than most of the rest of the world, so doesn't fit in most toasters, which are designed for the wold market. The usual advice in these threads is to look in your local supermarket for an own-brand toaster that advertises it can take tall bread. (I have an Asda one.)

RandomLondoner · 16/03/2021 10:22

My Asda toaster takes tall slices sideways, never had any problem fitting any bread in, though have never bought Warburtons toastie. It only does 2 slices at a time though.

@EggysMom that made me laugh out loud. Honestly it's been driving me nuts. I've returned 3 toasters to Amazon as bread just doesn't fit in it. I'll have a look at Asda! Glad it isn't just me though haha. Thanks everyone 😊.

It's this one (we have it in chrome). If you check the photos, they even show it with a warbies slice!

@Jumpers268 I'm pleased for you Smile Asda George are missing a trick by not advertising this as "fits Warburtons bread"

Dualit 2 normal size slots and 2 bigger slots for thick bread or you can put a cage in it if you want to do buns crumpets or toasted sandwiches. It’s one of the few makes that can be repaired if it goes wrong although mine has been good for 18 years.

pam290358 · 25/03/2021 17:57

Our family like Warburtons toastie bread too and it wouldn’t fit in our toaster - pain in the bum having to take it out and turn it round halfway through and the middle was always too dark. When our toaster needed replacing we bought a four piece toaster but it had two long slots instead of four individual ones - that was the solution for us as the bread fit perfectly two slices at a time - I think the make was Morphy Richards.

crummyusername · 25/03/2021 18:01

De Longhi 4 slice toaster is awesome. Unlike some others the two halves operate independently if you see what I mean. And it has a bagel setting.

LisaD76 · 25/03/2021 19:10

Jumpers268 We have the same problem, but I put my toaster on no3 and when it pops flip it over to do the other end, then I just keep popping until the centre is the right shade of brown. Have never found a toaster with big enough slots for the warburtons loaves, I have even considered contacting them and telling them to bring out their own toaster so people can actually toast their toastie.

BooRadleyIsFree · 25/03/2021 21:27

I have a 4 slice Asda's own brand one, it's white & grey with a marble effect. It definitely fits warburtons bread in fully.

@LittleGwyneth

Dulait four slice, utterly shit. Do not recommend.
Ours is fabulous... is yours the metal one or plastic on the outside?

Same here, ours is the four slice Dualit Architect and it’s crap.
mm40 · 25/03/2021 22:22

We don’t have the architect, but this one as it’s brilliant

Why not cut a bit off the slice to make it fit? If you don't like waste, convert the crusts to breadcrumbs, or toast in the oven for croutons when next you bake? If your picky child objects to this, suggest he buys a new toaster with his birthday money. If he is too young for that, cut the slices in half and toast sideways.

rankoutsider · 26/03/2021 02:31

I buy the smaller toastie loaf, the slices are smallerGrin

supperlover · 26/03/2021 03:31

I always wanted a classic Dualit toaster, like they use in hospitals. I finally splashed out and bought one and it's been well worth the money. I'm sure it would withstand your children popping it up as it has a sturdy lever designed just for that purpose. Mine's years old and has proven to be a more economical buy than the cheapies which needed to be regularly replaced.

Jumpers268 · 26/03/2021 10:12

Thanks all! I've already bought a new toaster that fits Warburton's (in the comments) Smile.

I will not buy any warburtons product as they support fox hunting please boycott them .

lilkitten · 10/04/2021 23:03

@Chanjer

The toastie one is square I think so you can't lie it down

I take it out and turn it over half way through

I have a dualit toaster btw and it definitely doesn't fit

Likewise I have a Dualit, and I turn it halfway to get the toast done to the end. Love my Dualit, had it 11 years and still going strong.
