Mother day 'that's lovely Darling' stories- very very lighthearted

I'm currently laying in bed having been sent upstairs whilst my 3 year old and her Dad make me a mothers day 'surprise'. It's cute, hilarious and worrying in equal measures:)))
I've already been called been 3 times for various questions like have we got any golden caster sugar (who has???) ok will ordinary caster sugar taste the same? "Mummy do you like lemon muffins because I don't", Is the fan oven the same as a normal oven?
And I'm listening to the conversation going on such "that's ok I think we've all the egg shell out" and "look if you keep eating all that there won't be any muffins and you'll make yourself sick".
Bless them both but it doesn't sound good:)))
Anyone else having to smile it out whilst dreading their mother's day 'surprises?' Would love to hear your stories.

I know this is a bit off track, but I wanted to write it. On valentines day, my dd wrote little cards for everyone, telling them what she loved about them. To her brother (5), she wrote 'I love it when you are nice to me'. He promptly burst into floods of tears, saying 'but I'm never nice to you!!'.

Mother's day was free from anything untoward this time Grin

I was forced to open my present at 7:55 this a.m as dc were starving and wanted to eat the posh Easter Egg they had bought me.

@honeylulu

My 6 year old gave a me a card with the acronym MOTHER spelling out various phrases with "E" commending my "Erisistable beauty".
This is GOLD! Well done that child Star

My dp wrote a card and on the envelope inside it says "no money inside"
Made me laugh.

All three of mind crashed into the bedroom at 6.50am, carrying gifts and cards, and the toddler gave me a box of chocolates rather too enthusiastically by bashing me on the head with them. They ‘helped’ open the presents, which is just as well because I could barely open my eyes after a poor night’s sleep. And then they all buggered off and let me sleep for two more hours!

DS age 6 made a card at school. There's a pre-printed thing stuck in where the kids wrote five things they love about their mum.

Number 1. She brings me snacks 😂

Ahbahbahbah · 14/03/2021 12:35

My 6 year old decided to make a card with paint handprints on from him and the 4 year old, which was very very sweet, except that so it would be a secret they did it in the bedroom with cream carpet instead of in the kitchen with Lino flooring, and now I have to clean up.

weebarra · 14/03/2021 12:43

I've got 3DC, 7, 10 and 12. Two are neurodiverse (ADD and ASC).
DS2 has been carefully planning and stressing about breakfast in bed. (Which I don't like but it's what you get 😂), it was lovely. All three put a lot of thought into my gifts, including a very complex looking cross stitch kit - I'm very much a beginner.
And DS1 complained that my posh shampoo took all his pocket money.
I'm really very bloody lucky!

My 8yo wrote happy valentines day in my card Grin

There's a brilliant episode of 'The Middle' which compares Mother's Day to Father's Day.

Mother's day is run by the kids. Mums often end up with a headache from eating sugar all day, wearing jewellery that will never see the light of day again and tidying up after their offspring's 'efforts'.

Father's day is run by the mums. A proper lie in, decent cooked brekkie, his favourite beers with his favourite dinner and a present he actually wants!

HeyMicky · 14/03/2021 12:54

The acrostic on my card included "exotic" and "thorough" Confused

I got a lay in till 10.30 husband already put doing the food shop, DD came in crying as she had forgotten to bring my card home from school luckily ds2 came to the rescue said as could put her name on his (he’s 16 and they usually fight like cat and dog) so that made my day
Ds2 is currently prepping the roast he said he will do it all apart from the Yorkshire’s bless him not bad for a 16 year,
Ds1 has put a nice post on FB wasn’t expecting anything he’s so forgetful and away at uni and NEVER even acknowledges me on FB normally

The funniest I've heard is what me and my sister did to my mum.
I will start by saying my mum rarely drank, mabey at Christmas or on her birthday but when she did her tipple of choice was pernod and coke.
So one mothers day when me and my sister were about 5 and 7 we made mum a special breakfast. She told us recently what she was served was 2 slices of burnt toast, an orange and a pint of pernod. Apparently the pernod was seen as mum 'special drink'. She said we kept asking if she liked her special drink? As she pretended to sup staright pernod at 8 am.

I feel like I will survive the 'surprise' this year as DS is a baby but I fear for the years to come.

LagneyandCasey · 14/03/2021 12:56

Forgot the video

Amrythings · 14/03/2021 12:59

DS blew Granny extravagant kisses and "love yous" on video chat, then lunged at me crying "Eat the Mama!" as my darling husband pissed himself laughing instead of saving me from the tiny cannibal.

I have now been banished to have a nice shower by myself while they chat with Nana.

Bettina500 · 14/03/2021 13:02

The other year I got, wrapped in Happy Birthday paper as he'd forgotten to buy paper, a cleanser, toner, moisturiser gift set from my DH. He'd seen it was L'Oréal and bought it on the basis he recognised the brand and thought it must be good. Unfortunately he didn't see that it was an industrial strength anti wrinkle, anti sagging, anti age spot set for very mature skin. I was early thirties Grin

dancinfeet · 14/03/2021 13:03

Eldest (21) sent me a lovely box of hotel chocolat chocolates through the post, but had to text to tell me they were actually for me, as she had accidentally addressed the parcel to herself. No card as 'the moonpig offerings were shite' (her words, not mine). Youngest (16) presented me with some baileys flavour fudge (win as I like both baileys and fudge) and a card, which for her is a big deal as she hates writing cards and has now gone back to bed. Eldest rang me at 10am to wish me a happy mother's day, and to congratulate herself for remembering to do so, despite being very hung over. Am enjoying the peace and quiet and the tv to myself.

Ha!

I don't have human kids but found a card on my pillow with Meow meow meow mewoweeeeeewwwwww written in it. DH is a good egg.

Catsknees · 14/03/2021 13:09

These are lovely! You're making me nostalgic for mother's days when mine were little. The pile of little ones bouncing about on the bed and the attempts at breakfast. I was lucky that DH facilitated it all.

HumphreyCobblers · 14/03/2021 13:10

My best acrostic poem offering was

Eeeeeek! I love you so much!

❤️❤️❤️

InconvenientPeg · 14/03/2021 13:11

I got tea and toast in bed from dd11 and chocolate oranges from ds16.

And they both stayed for a chat, which was lovely!
