To increase my prices?

I have recently started selling limited edition prints or my drawings on Etsy. So far going well - been doing it 8 weeks - average income £200 a week, sold about 9 a week.

I popped on here earlier this week (for some help with some retail advice as been approached by a local shop for them to sell them) and several people said I was undercharging. Several people IRL (not friends/family) have also said the same. So I need to try and gauge if I need to put my prices up. Often too low a price can be as off putting as too high a price.

I sell currently at
A5 - £15.00
A4 - £17.50
A3 - £25.00

Prints are Gilcee/Fine Art quality with certificate of authenticity.
Postage is included.

General consensus is I should raise prices to more like
A5 - £20
A4 - £25
A3 - £30

I have attached a couple of photos of the kind of stuff I do.

So, I know they won't be everyone's taste. But If you could pretend you did like them - or that they would be a perfect gift for your sister because she loves cows/hares/boxing- what would you be willing to pay?

YABU - keep your prices at £15.00 -£25.00 depending on size - I wouldn't pay more

YANBU increase to £20.00-£35.00 depending on size, I would pay this.

Any other pricing comments welcome.

Thank you

Can't see the photos!

SilverRoe · 13/03/2021 10:00

I don’t see the pictures yet but curious about how much profit you’re currently making on each size - is postage included in this price? How much are you spending on printing?

Purplewithred · 13/03/2021 10:01

Have a look at the facebook site Not On Amazon for price comparisons. Also for feedback.

Beseigedbykillersquirrels · 13/03/2021 10:03

I can't see the photos either unfortunately. It would be great if you could attach them again for us!

Lol

TheGumption · 13/03/2021 10:07

I think you're definitely undercharging.

JulietMadeChutney · 13/03/2021 10:07

And these are awful quality images....MN wouldn't let me upload anything of any size - so did compilations.

I really appreciate any input - as I am so new to this (art and selling). Etsy-based market research is not as useful as it could be as stuff goes from silly small price to much higher. I am probably at the lower end though.

These are great you are definitely undercharging

SilverRoe · 13/03/2021 10:07

Urgh sorry you did say postage is included!!

TheGumption · 13/03/2021 10:08

They're not to my taste, art wise. But I can appreciate that they're really very good and I think people should be paid fairly for skilled work.

JulietMadeChutney · 13/03/2021 10:08

@SilverRoe

Urgh sorry you did say postage is included!!
Yes. Postage included. Seems to be the thing Etsy is pushing.

The dog one is exquisite

ChancesWhatChances · 13/03/2021 10:09

Charge more. And teach me how to draw like that? Grin You’re amazing, I’d charge £25-30 minimum for your smaller drawings and increase price the larger (or more detailed) they are.

Redtartanshoes · 13/03/2021 10:09

I think they are great.

I’d say if you are only just starting out keep the prices the same? Assuming you are making a profit and not under charging for your time. In 6 months maybe increase?

IMO it all better for a start up to be selling 9 a week and making £200 than selling 4 or 5 and making £100. If you keep selling thT many an increase in price won’t make a difference

Dinosaursdontgrowontrees · 13/03/2021 10:10

They are really good, you are definitely undercharging.

Ringshanks · 13/03/2021 10:10

Yes, the new prices seem more appropriate. They would still be appealing at that price . I generally spend £20-30 on a gift depending on the occasion and you’d hit that market

cutthebs · 13/03/2021 10:10

Your price increase isn't huge and I think is reflective of the product so I think you should increase them. It's not such a hike that I think would put people off buying them.

AOwlAOwlAOwl · 13/03/2021 10:11

The quality is fantastic. Yes you should put your prices up.

Igmum · 13/03/2021 10:12

I think you're definitely under charging. Each of these looks like many hours of work. Definitely put your prices up

Trappeding · 13/03/2021 10:12

Definitely increase the prices.

JulietMadeChutney · 13/03/2021 10:12

Couple more.

As you can see...not quite got a set style at the moment. Only started drawing in July....before that was strictly in the "Cannot draw for toffee" camp.

I’m surprised that there’s not a bigger price difference between the sizes.

lordalmighty · 13/03/2021 10:13

They are amazing! I think I would raise prices and if you find the orders dry up you could always lower for a while if you needed to. I was recently decorating DDs bedroom & looking for roald dahl prints (I wanted some quotes rather than drawings) and they were £19 each to download and print yourself! I ended up not buying them - but seen that plenty of people had. So your drawings seem to be hugely under priced from that perspective!
