Is this dirty?

I have cleaners come every forthright. They basically do a deep clean of the whole house-hoover, mop, kitchen, all bathrooms, all bedrooms, all polishing downstairs etc, plus the upstairs banging and terrace at the front. Plus change beds and clean oven and fridge, clean windows.
In-between this I keep it tidy (toddler, so it’s tricky!) clean and bleach toilets and obviously keep kitchen clean, wash dishes after use.
Am I doing enough or is this unacceptable? I’d ideally love them to do this every week not fortnight, but it’s pricey and they’re busy with other clients.

Get a eufy. It vacuums my house most days.

dementedma · 12/03/2021 21:26

I also never iron bedding and very rarely dust.Kitchen floor is mopped about once a fortnight. Who the f has the time to be constantly cleaning?

LunaHeather · 12/03/2021 21:33

Honestly? I was expecting a different subject.

PattyPan · 12/03/2021 21:42

@JanetHandjob

Those of you who change bedding weekly: how can you be bothered to do the ironing that is involved in bedding-changes? I can cope with that every 2-3 weeks, but not every bloody week.
I don't iron anything! I don't have a tumble dryer so when it's drying on the line/airer I pull it out to avoid the worst creases. I actually use an old clothes rail to dry the duvet cover (double), it's a good size for that.

About the mopping, we have a spray mop rather than bucket and mop, so can mop wood and laminate without getting it too wet but enough to get rid of mud.

KitesFlyingInTheWind · 12/03/2021 21:45

ironing bedsheets? No way.
Wash, dry (on line or over door), fold.
Fitted sheets normally de-crease themselves as you stretch them out.

TableFlowerss · 12/03/2021 21:45

Absolutely filthy

Dutchesss · 12/03/2021 21:52

This thread is a lot less interesting than I had hoped from the title.
I was thoroughly disappointed. Grin

HeronLanyon · 12/03/2021 22:01

Re the thread title misleading some - There was a question upthread wondering how someone’s sheets became so crumpled as to need ironing. I think that may be as close as it gets ?

LuluJakey1 · 12/03/2021 22:05

We don't have a cleaner - I do most of it (SAHM) and DH does some.
Our inside windows don't get done that often - 3x a year apart from those toddlers and cat paws put marks on which ate done regularly.

Beds 1 x weekly
Hard floors swept 2 or 3 times a week, mopped once
Hoover downstairs daily, upstairs 1 x weekly
Dust and polish 1 x weekly
Bathrooms every other day quick clean and loos daily
Curtains - about once a year if that
Kitchen I do every day in terms of quick clean - surfaces and floors.
DH does lots of ironing and dishwasher loading and unloading
Fridges, oven and microwave about 1 x month at most

The bathrooms I do while I am running a bath- surfaces, sinks, loos- takes 5 mins. DH cleans the shower at night when he uses it.
The kitchen DH and I spend 5 mins doing at night last thing- surfaces cleared and cleaned, hob cleaned, dishwasher loaded and switched on.

I tidy as I go.

Toddler so it's tricky.😂😂😂I had four children under five, worked full time with a husband overseas and STILL managed to do the housework myself. This is such a stealth post.

And yours clearly isn’t.
PhoenixandtheRug · 12/03/2021 22:12

Eileen, I'm broke as a bone. Fingers raw with working all day long. Explain how my post is a stealth post. Come on, let's hear it.

EileenGC · 12/03/2021 22:16

So if yours isn’t a stealth post, why is the OP’s? You have no idea what her circumstances are. Or aren’t. Nor does that make a difference.

PhoenixandtheRug · 12/03/2021 22:21

Eileen, the OP is wondering if the amount if work her cleaner does, makes her and her house dirty while admitting she does the barest minimum...yeah, she sounds SOOO concerned!🙄 if the OP was truly worried, she would DO MORE! it's that simple. Or her husband.

I work my fingers to the bone and i don't come on Mumsnet talking about a balcony (oops misspelled that so people take notice) and a terrace. She can't care less about how dirty her house is and you're a fool if you think she does.

Cbeebiesischeesy · 12/03/2021 23:42

@PhoenixandtheRug What a lovely person you are.
I shouldn’t have to say it but I have long covid, going on 12 months now. Used to work full time, cleaned at weekends, now can’t and have my toddler at home..yes, just one, not four like you, no, that’s because she was an ivf baby after 9 years of infertility,
First time I’ve ever have cleaners this past year, they’re a godsend, I couldn’t do it without them. I don’t really clean in between because I’m exhausted, getting through the day with my toddler is an achievement for me. Due to this, I am concerned the house may be dirty in between this, soon restrictions will be lifted where I am and as I’m starting to feel a little better, I’d like to invite friends over again, but do worry it’s scruffy in between.
Yes I have a balcony, I live in another country and it’s standard here, not like the U.K., my house is likely half the price and size of an average house in the U.K. certainly no boasting going on here.

Congratulations on your ability to be able to do so much and work so hard in your life.

Cbeebiesischeesy · 12/03/2021 23:45

@PhoenixandtheRug Oh and my Dh doesn’t do it all as he works 13 hour days to make up for the wages being down whilst I’m not working. Weekends we just want to relax as a family and no matter how he tried, he and I both know it wouldn’t be done to the standard the fantastic cleaners would be able to.

OP posts:
Cbeebiesischeesy · 12/03/2021 23:47

@PhoenixandtheRug A misspelling simply because my phone auto corrects and I’m shit typing at times, simple as that, okay?

OP posts:
Cbeebiesischeesy · 12/03/2021 23:47

@EileenGC Thanks so much, why do some people just have to be pricks? I don’t get it, there’s no need.

OP posts:
Lochmorlich · 12/03/2021 23:56

I use unstoppables in my wash now and the bed linen certainly smells nicer.
We have a woodburner so our house is always dusty in cold weather. Damp dusting keeps it off longest imo.

Cbeebiesischeesy · 13/03/2021 00:07

@Lochmorlich Ahh, wood burner here too, perhaps that is the main reason it gets dusty so quickly

OP posts:
Smallonesaremorejuicy · 13/03/2021 02:14

Only thing you could think about doing is hoovering & (steam) mopping the floors everyday , oh & the sheets more often .

ZaraCarmichaelshighheels · 13/03/2021 02:26

I always iron my duvet cover and pillowcases, even if they come straight off the line or from the tumble dryer, they just look and feel so much better to me.

threatmatrix · 13/03/2021 17:38

If your happy and your cleaner is happy then everything is fine. I have a cleaner twice a week, I work full time but my son and his two toddlers live with us so you can imagine. Just do what makes you happy and don’t worry about anyone else.

Yourcatisnotsorry · 13/03/2021 17:46

I Hoover downstairs 4-5 times a day. With pets and small children the floor would be absolutely filthy here if it got done once a fortnight. If your’s isn’t though don’t worry about it.

I don't change my bedding weekly, but I certainly don't iron bedding ever. Because I'm sane ;)
