To think my doctor hasn’t got a clue

Finally I’ve caved and realised I’m rapidly going down hill mentally
And I need some antidepressants..doctor has decided to put me on ones that effect blood pressure
,i told him I have that white coat thing ,where I only have to look at the blood pressure machine and my blood pressure shoots up..
So he prescribed venaflelaxine ,but told me me not to pick it up untill I’d done 5 days of normal blood pressure readings..
I’m on the fucking floor with my mental health,
blood pressure is high ,I’d already told him on the phone as I’ve got a home blood pressure machine ,I’m fat ,it’s high ,I won’t get a normal reading as I’m stressed anyway.
But no I’ve to wait for normal reading before I get my tablets
Well if I wasn’t stressed before ,I am now .
Wtf ..why not just give me a tablet that doesn’t make blood pressure worse

You can have high blood pressure and take ADs. It might be that they are trying to determine if you need BP medication also - are they? If not I would arrrange an appointment with another GP in practice and say you cannot get your life or your lifestyle under control until you get your mental health under control, so they need to prescribe appropriately. Also get them to refer you for CBT

I want blood pressure meds ..and anti depressants .I’m sinking fast .I’m worried sick ..I just don’t see why he couldn’t of given me one that doesn’t depend on blood pressure,he knows my weight

@Springsnake ask for another doctor, plenty of anti depressants that don’t affect your blood pressure

They were supposed to phone me yesterday ,but didn’t..I will ask for another doctor,thanks guys x
