To think that if the only black adult in your family says they have experienced racism...

... it's counterproductive to send a white man out to say, We're very much not racist?

That just is never going to end well. Ask Ian Murray how it worked out for him.

I couldn't care much either way about the Royal Family. Just baffled at the headline of William saying this.

@Shoppingwithmother

They didn’t send him out to say that though did they?

He was at an engagement and the press shouted questions at him, which he briefly answered as he walked past.

Should he have said nothing?

Yes one dodgy relative does cast a shadow over everyone but some of that could have been picked up by a idiotic Harry.

William and most the others have more brains and can think for themselves. Harry has always been weaker. That is why he seems to believe this new reality Meghan has offered him.

kittycorner · 13/03/2021 20:29

Agreed @Overcastcloudy the most ridiculous thing of all this is journalists/tabloids asking white people who have no experience being a royal if the royal family is racist. I mean even a white person in the royal family likely has no idea how M felt as a woman of colour.

I find it pretty extraordinary that people are so keen to point to other influences in Harry’s life when his grandfather is on the record in indulging in significant racial slurs.

But ah, the lies people tell themselves

Oh my good grief, look at where he spent most of his influential years, and it wasn't in the pocket of his grandfather. He was in surroundings both public school and the Army where racist behaviour is well known and where his behaviours were not pulled up on at the time, so why was that? Because maybe he was surrounded by people who thought it was all good japes and a bit of harmless fun.

I'm not saying it wasn't someone in the RF but as he hasn't named a name (except to specify it wasn't PP) then I am as right to look outside the RF box as you are to to stay in it.

I thought the media keep asking black people who are close or have worked to the family. They keep having little interviews popping up all over the place. Which is pretty cringeworthy
blubberyboo · 13/03/2021 23:13

I don’t think Harry is in a position to sit and be calling anyone racist.

It was really quite wicked the way they did it.. pretending to be protecting someone’s identity when really they knew it would cast suspicion on many.

TheKeatingFive · 13/03/2021 23:46

So what are you suggesting, that immediate family (and obviously fathers influence fathers) have no impact compared to school? How utterly extraordinary.

Do we have any overt evidence of racism in Eton, equivalent to that displayed by his grandfather? Do share if so.

Where have I said it has no impact compared to schools. I’m just offering an alternative/additional POV where this sort of behaviour flourishes. I’m really not interested in getting into a ridulous argument about it, you obviously have your opinion and won’t look at other possibilities but I’ll put these links here anyway. I’m off to bed, toodlepip.

As most the the Tory party past and present went to Eton you probably don't need evidence. If you want it I suggest Google racist comments made by politicians. That would probably do the trick🤦‍♀️

@homebird46

So as per my question, what point of constitutional law did clarinsmum get wrong? You are a former lawyer, so you ought to know.

As it had you laughing out loud, it must have been a real howler.

The rest of your response to me is irrelevant.

AirBubbleMe · 14/03/2021 04:10

@Shoppingwithmother

OP - Have you actually watched it or just as you say been “baffled by the headline?”

It was not a statement “we are not racist.”

The journalist said to him “is the royal family a racist family?”

What the fuck is he supposed to say?

Seriously? I thought everyone knew by now that it is terrifically bad form for a white person to deny the lived experience of black and biracial people. For the love of god when are people going to wake up? If you don't know the right thing to say, keep your mouth shut - whether you're a member of the RF or a poster on MN. Just zip up that ignorance.

@Ihopeyourcakeisshit

I'm wondering whether one of the reasons people are questioning the mental health issue was because of the night she went out (Albert Hall event?) Meghan was apparently suicidal but she looked like a goddess. I know sometimes you have to put your game face on but there are limits surely?
I know sometimes you have to put your game face on but there are limits surely?

@Ihopeyourcakeisshit No, not really. There are a few people on the threads since the interview broke that have said NO ONE would have ever guessed they suffered from severe depression and were suicidal. And how many times have we read of someone suiciding and family and friends said they were 'the life of the party' and 'no one had a clue anything was wrong'?

Don't forget that she would have had to attend these events as part of her duty - she couldn't get out of it.

Also there are pictures of her at that event where if you looked at her face and eyes you could see sadness there and as if she had been crying.

Cokie3 · 14/03/2021 06:55

@GreenSlide his own brother is now being heckled by journalists calling him a racist while he's out doing his job. Visiting a school FFS.

Oh please, much like a politician (and his answer was as believable as a politician's answer), it's his job to answer questions from the press. He knows the deal by now, he knew that, understandably - he'd be asked a question like that. He did absolutely zero prep work at all whatsoever. For someone who will be King after his father, William isn't very good at his job. People have attacked Meghan and Harry for how they've answered press questions - William is as bad, if not worse!

Cokie3 · 14/03/2021 06:58

@Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum Plus the latest revelations about the fake British headlines Oprah used. 8 publications 5 were not British and three edited. One of those is so edited no British press has ever run a headline like it.

What is your source for this?

Cokie3 · 14/03/2021 07:05

@Truthlikeness But I look at photos of Megan from that night and she very much does not look ok.

Exactly. Not sure where the 'goddess' part came in unless they were referring to how she was dressed, but you could tell looking at her face in the pictures of that event that something was really off, really wrong. There was deep unhappiness in her face.

chaosrabbitland · 14/03/2021 07:15

@TwilightSkies

Meghan could claim to be a rabbit and people would believe it.

Do you think she hasn’t experienced racism from the royal family? Why would she lie?

well from the sounds of the crap she came out with in that interview if thats what you can call it she lied about quite a lot else though . its pretty obvious why she lied as both of them are angry at the family because they didnt get to walk away and keep all their perks , and the poor me im such a victim helps raise their profile in the states /earn them more money

err you know shes an actress right ?

ForwardRanger · 14/03/2021 07:20

Gosh chaos that's spiteful. Why is it that an interview with beautiful young black woman triggers you so much?

chaosrabbitland · 14/03/2021 07:31

@ForwardRanger

Gosh chaos that's spiteful. Why is it that an interview with beautiful young black woman triggers you so much?
it triggers me because i think its evil to throw a whole family under the cloud of being racist and then refusing to name who said it . same with the kate made me cry , no detail at all just now kate has had an allegation leveled at her that MM knows she cant respond to , and its not just her harry is just as bad if not worse , now that they are finished shredding his family to pieces they are relaxing in their mansion , it never ceases to amaze me what people will do for the love of money
Parker231 · 14/03/2021 07:35

Do you know this couple and their family? No - why do posters comment as if it’s a fact on things that they have 100% no knowledge of. The only information you have is that reported in the tabloid press- do you believe that type of journalism?

Cokie3 · 14/03/2021 07:36

Harry went to private school, not public school.

Cokie3 · 14/03/2021 07:37

@chaosrabbitland Er, so you mean every actress is considered to be a liar and they should be doubted no matter what they do or say because 'hey, they can act'? What an immature, bizarre and stupid comment!

She is also a human being with feelings and emotions. Not that you understand that.

Cokie3 · 14/03/2021 07:39

@chaosrabbitland You sound quite deranged and twisted with hate. I feel sorry for you. There is not evidence at all that she lied about anything.

On the contrary.
