It was DS's birthday yesterday. I baked a cake in the shape of a giant doughnut. I bought the mould years ago in the sale for £1, and I've just realised how much I love it. Giant doughnut cake makes me happy every time. It's not even anything special or fancy, but something about it pleases me.

It got me thinking, what do people feel disproportionately fond of?

When I make the perfect cup of tea and get to drink it at optimum temperature

PeapodBurgundy · 11/03/2021 11:08

I get that one. I usually get two 'perfect sips' out of a cup when it's not too hot or too cold. It has to be Yorkshire Tea to be perfect as well :-)

I felt happy just imagining Giant Doughnut Cake!

OH has taken my phone to work with him, I've messaged to aks for the Google passowrd to get the picture. I'll upload it when I have it. I make a Ryan's World style cake topper (just a paper one). It was the easiest birthday cake I've done him, but it actuall looked quite effective :-)

A perfectly run bath - just the right depth and temperature.

PeapodBurgundy · 11/03/2021 11:20

What's left of it and the topper! (we're a bunch of pigs!! Haha)

My dog running. Long story short, he’s 11 next week and spent 8.5 years in poor conditions. His run is a little lopsided and in short bursts but it makes me so happy!

Fresh sheets, getting to the bottom of the laundry basket and finding some cash you didn't know you had Smile

Cake (what's left of it!) looks fab. Happy Birthday to DS!

When she was doing the washing my mum used to empty pockets and put all money found in a jar. When she had enough she would treat herself to Babycham (remember that) which helped her get through the ironing.

That sounded to me like you found cash at the bottom of the laundry basket. Which would be wonderful of course.

what about being the first person to pierce the foil on a new jar of nutella? Weirdly, I'm not that fussed about eating it- but I do like starting a new jar

A "good" avocado. Just the right ripeness, balanced stone-to-flesh ratio, easy to spread on toast. They're a rare beast.

Completely second this and also sometimes I leave my alarm on on Sundays just for the pleasure of not getting up Smile
