to ask what ID you need for the vaccine?

I’m an NHS worker - my manager has verbally told me to book the vaccine online. I have my NHS badge but nothing to say I’m front line (I’m admin and sometimes on reception but hasn’t been an issue so far as not covered for a couple of months but they want me to start soon).
Do I need something written from my manager to say I’m frontline? Or do I just book online and take my NHS ID?
I’m a bit confused as thought would get it at the trust and don’t really understand how it’s working!

Your ID badge should be enough based on the fact mine (I work for a charity for older people) was enough, and mine doesn't specify my exact role either.

Pancakepipsqueak · 10/03/2021 15:25

@Balaur thank you! I didn’t want to book and turn up and them say I need further proof!

We were asked for Id badge or payslip.

Pancakepipsqueak · 10/03/2021 15:48

@Findahouse21 I haven’t got a wage slip as they’ve all gone online - I’ll see if I can print one off and take my badge too! Thank you

I printed one from my online account

Findahouse21 · 10/03/2021 18:35

Only because I couldn't find my photo ID - I think it's in my locker at work

Schoolisback1973 · 10/03/2021 18:39

Just had mine today. I wasn't asked for one.

lovetheweekends · 10/03/2021 18:52

All NHS staff are eligible for the vaccine, you don't need to be frontline.
That is the case at the trust I work at anyway.

NichyNoo · 10/03/2021 18:56

They’re not asking for ID in my area. I know people in their 30s getting the vaccine by ticking the social care worker option on the app (even though they aren’t) They’re not asked for ID.

BlueSussex · 10/03/2021 19:33

They were asking NHS workers for ID when I attended. One bloke went berserk when they refused to let him in (no ID) and had to be removed be security.

I think they just wanted ID badge (I am not NHS)

Obbydoo · 10/03/2021 20:06

Am I the only one that thinks this thread is suspicious? NHS worker comes to mumsnet to ask about an NHS service? Why would you not ask your colleagues? I hope this is not someone trying to find out how to bypass the system, we know it has happened in the past. Apologies OP if you are genuine, perhaps I'm an old cynic but this just seems very odd!

BonnyandPoppy · 10/03/2021 20:08

I was asked for my id badge

FrickinA · 10/03/2021 21:53

Just show your badge. We can tell from just chatting to someone whether or not they’re staff anyway...

FrickinA · 10/03/2021 22:11

‘ Am I the only one that thinks this thread is suspicious? NHS worker comes to mumsnet to ask about an NHS service? Why would you not ask your colleagues?’

It’s not suspicious, it depends where you are how and when you get the vaccine and how that’s communicated. We’ve had staff rock up to the centre to ask us how to sort their 2nd vac as they aren’t sure themselves how to go about it. Some places you absolutely must have an appt sorted and in others it’s more informal and NHS id is enough - particularly when it comes to using up vaccine that needs to be used.

FrickinA · 10/03/2021 22:13

And now we’re starting on 2nd doses for some frontline staff it’s a bit more complicated as they need to have the same one as the first vacc - so if you got Astra for no1 then you need Astra for no 2 and within 12 weeks deadline so staff are often being told short notice to come get theirs.

BonnyandPoppy · 10/03/2021 22:24

I‘m getting my second jab on Sunday

needadvice54321 · 10/03/2021 23:14

I had mine today (social care) and needed a letter to prove I was entitled. They were very thorough, I'd be surprised if someone would get away with having the vaccine when not entitled

Pancakepipsqueak · 11/03/2021 14:35

@Obbydoo sorry it’s suspicious! I’m genuine - I’ve asked my work colleagues but they all had it done a few months ago at the trust we work at so they didn’t have to book online!
