New kitten is very sick. Seller will take no responsibility

So Friday evening I purchased a little sphynx kitten. When I got there it was clear the kitten was underweight but apart from being boney and dry skinned she was playing and inquisitive. I was told she was in good health was given her vaccine record. She was born very small and was 11 weeks old needed her second vaccine this week. I Asked to see mum and she explained that she had bought this kitten days before and had to sell her due to her other cat not liking it. She showed me pics of the kitten with mum and gave me the vax records with breeders details on. As soon as we got home she had bloody diarrhea I contacted her straight away and she seemed genuinely shocked and concerned. Said it was most likely the stress of journey. By Saturday evening the dhe diarrhea had continued all day and she wasn't eating. The lady wasn't responding to me. I Contacted a vet who said it was most likely the stress of the move and too keep her hydrated. I still didn't feel happy so tracked down her breeder on Facebook and she was shocked she had been resold and was very helpful explained she had been weaned onto a raw diet and was used to that and the biscuits the lady had been feeding her were probably the cause. I went straight out and bought her the recommended food and some fluid replenishment drinks and she ate fine after that, the diarrhea eased and became less runny and bloody. By Sunday night she devoloped bad eyes and was sneezing. This got worse throughout Monday she stopped eating agaim and I rang the vet. The vet explained she was severely dehydrated and that she had an infection. I had to go again yesterday and I also have to take her back again today. It is costing a fortune. Which i don't mind but the woman I bought her off is denying she was ill saying she had diarrhea but was fine! That she didn't have her long enough to make her sick and that this is my fault and she won't take her back (I wouldn't of taken her back to her anyway) she won't refund me and she won't contribute too vet fees. I am more upset about what she has done to this poor kitten. The photos the breeder sent me of the day she left hers it's just heartbreaking too see how much weight she lost. It is touch and go at the moment and I am just angry. I feel she should take some responsibility for what she has done. Am I being unreasonable to expect her to contribute? Where do I stand with this? There is a good likely hood this cat may not live and I have spent 1300 on it so far and not to mention my children and how upsetting it all is

Excuse her scraggy jumper. We have had to make them out of bedsocks as she is so small x

I think the kindest thing to do would be to have the poor little thing put down, so she isn't suffering anymore. Start again.

RTFT!

Even if you took the time to just read the OP's posts you would see the kitten is recovering.

Oh bless her, she's had a rough

DeadButDelicious · 16/03/2021 09:16

Sorry posted to soon. She's had a rough start but she is gorgeous! Good luck little kitten!

Mittens030869 · 16/03/2021 09:19

Awww, she’s lovely, and a real little fighter. X

yomommasmomma · 16/03/2021 09:19

It doesn't sound like she is recovering that much really and all the talk about how tiny she is worries me. She sounds like a very sick tiny kitten for whom the right thing needs to be done and end her suffering. Even if she is getting a little brighter, she is suffering a lot and filling her with antibiotics etc is not the kindest thing to do here in my view. With animals we often get confused between what is best for them and what is best for us.

dementedpixie · 16/03/2021 09:21

Shes an improving kitten who seems to be happy
No need to kill her off

Thehawki · 16/03/2021 09:27

Im so happy she’s doing better OP! What a cute little jumper you have for her :) ignore the people telling you to put her down, as long as she is improving there is hope x

SirVixofVixHall · 16/03/2021 09:31

She doesn’t sound as though she is suffering ! She is looking good there. I have had several pets who’ve had very rough patches where the vet was thinking it might be the end, who have recovered and lived many years afterwards.
Suggesting putting her down is really extreme and very unkind under the circumstances.

Sp3849 · 16/03/2021 09:34

@yomommasmomma out of all the comments on here yours has to be the most heartless and nasty. I have spent my whole time worrying about putting her through unnecessary procedures and suffering. I have had this chat with the vet alot. Every day last week in fact! It was my biggest fear to be honest and it was until Sunday evening when she finally started to pick up. But now I feel hope and joy for her. I don't want to see any animal suffer. The vet has assured me it is just an infection they did bloods On her every day last week to monitor it. If you could see a picture of her the week before I had her she was a picture of health. It is simply because of a case of prolonged diarrhea over the week before I had her causing dehydration and infection. You can't go killing things because of a bacterial infection. She has not ever shown any distress or pain. I have not kept her alive for selfish reasons. I have given her the chance she deserved to have as advised by her vet. Who is monitoring her closely. Obviously if the time comes and there is any long term illness that would cause suffering then that is exactly what I will do. Surprisingly I do not get any joy out of watching anything suffer. This whole experience has made me ill to be honest and I would appreciate if of you kept your narrow minded optinion too yourself!

The problem is @Sp3849 people don’t bother to read the thread , they read the opening post and then jump to comment . She looks and sounds like she’s coming on a treat , congratulations .

yomommasmomma · 16/03/2021 09:58

I am glad you are happy with your decisions and hey are right for you. Personally I think any sort of issues like this for such a tiny animal sounds awful. As for the keeping my opinions to myself, this is a public forum, you are inviting opinions! Take care and I do hope it works out well for you.

Fussyeaternightmare · 16/03/2021 10:04

@Sp3849 she’s gorgeous! I hope she continues to improve for you, you’ll have a bond worth her like no other after all that you’ve been through in the short time you’ve had her

Poor little mouse. She was not well looked after, was she? She looks very warm and cosy there. I know it has been tough op, but it is very fortunate for her that she was taken into your home. She now has the prospect of living a healthy life. So, it was a good thing overall and you've done right by her.

Hope things improve and the all this worry and stress will only be a distant memory. She will no doubt give you years of mischief joy.

ChequerBoard · 16/03/2021 11:12

@Sp3849 She is a sweetie, so glad she is looking brighter. Ignore the troll, there's always one that doesn't read the thread!

I think you will have an amazing bond with the kitten after all the extra care and attention she has had in these early days. She has definitely landed on her feet and looks like she knows it.

Wavescrashingonthebeach · 16/03/2021 11:19

Pleased the little sweetie is recovering well. Sounds like all this has been a very steep learning curve for you! Hope she continues to improve and she enjoys a long and happy life with you Flowers
