Flooring for kids bedroom so they can do Lego on floor?

Don't want laminate/lino, it's too cold. Sisal probably too rough. She needs to be able to do jigsaws etc on it.
Maybe woven cotton or something?
Any ideas?

Lino is not cold.

B33Fr33 · 10/03/2021 11:02

Lino won't be cold if it's an upstairs room.

B33Fr33 · 10/03/2021 11:03

*unless that upstairs is a concrete floor (A problem in a lot of kitchens where you might associate it).

Mumdiva99 · 10/03/2021 11:05

My daughter has carpet and manages lego and jigsaws absolutely fine.

Spanglybangles · 10/03/2021 11:13

Flat weave carpet maybe. Alternatively LVP like Amtico or Karndean, as will be a bit softer and warmer underfoot than laminate or sheet Lino.

PirateSwash · 10/03/2021 11:24

Thanks everyone. Spanglybangles that's great.

I’d be loathe to make flooring choices for a few year. I’d get big Lego base plates and buy a rolling up jigsaw thing for downstairs.

Stompythedinosaur · 10/03/2021 11:35

We have sanded floorboards and big rugs. The dc sit on the rugs building on the hard floor.

WoolieLiberal · 10/03/2021 12:32

I thought you meant literally Lego flooring!

Chouetted · 10/03/2021 12:34

Lego flooring would be painful!

Carpet and a mat on top?

@WoolieLiberal

I thought you meant literally Lego flooring!
now that would be an idea Grin

We have wooden floors, I dislike everything else. They do lego just as well on a rug than the bare floor.

Anyonebut · 10/03/2021 12:38

As pps have mentioned, a rug is fine. A lot of places have inexpensive kids rugs, a lot of which are very cushy, and you can get them dry cleaned if needed.

Loopyloututu2 · 10/03/2021 12:39

I would just get whatever flooring you want (I’d choose carpet for warmth) and then buy or make a ‘Lego table’. I bought a lack coffee table from IKEA and glued the large Lego boards to it - my dc’s loved it.
