It’s been a few years since I was a teen and my eldest is currently a tween. We have three boys - the elder two heavily into playing games on switch / PS4. (Probably helped by lockdown!)
We are looking at long term house projects which will grow with our family. We have an old summer house at the bottom of the garden which will need repairs (new floor & fixing up the roof!) I am tempted to pull it down but my dad thinks that when the boys are older they will want somewhere to hang out without us parents where they can do teenage things. (I guess the equivalent to our sitting on a bench drinking bicardi breezers!)
But I hardly see teens sitting on benches any more and wondered whether it would be better to convert our garage into a gaming room with some seating & gaming set up - since that’s currently what him & his friends like doing.
So essentially I’m asking what would you do? Do teens stay in playing games or hang out on benches? I know it’s a big sweeping generalisation but it’s a new part of parenting to navigate!
