I think the people this week just rubbed me the wrong way

I quite liked the rich couple. The woman in the poor couple annoyed me so much.

Pretty sure one or both of them could find some kind of work. I also agree with the poster who said they could sell one of their tv's. Who the hell needs 3 tv's?

He was working. Part-time. She has a serious medical condition. The TVs, oh ffs, the mother told her they were given to them.

Never heard of this show but I watched this episode on YouTube after reading this thread. I liked both families but its very typical staged reality TV.

I find it hard to believe that the rich family spend over £1200 a week, it seems they were just leaving a big wad of cash to show off

I would bet they're saving around half of that, its not really for lifestyle spending like the show makes it seem!

I have epilepsy AND I'm a social worker (really!).

Epilepsy is awful and the most scary thing I've experienced. However, I'm very lucky that mine is under control. I also drink. Get me having a life.

I've seen very few large TV's in the homes of people I work with.

KnackeredHag · 11/03/2021 16:04

I once organised for the 'rich' guy to come into school and speak to students about entrepreneurianism off the back of a recommendation from someone regarding his 'success'
I'm pissed off he lied to 300 impressionable students about how he raised the money to start 'his' business!

@IhaveNotBroughtMySpecsWithMe are you tiredemmas friend? Wink

We have one that used to be my ILs.

I’m always underwhelmed by the rich holiday poor holiday program. It’s like the rich people pay for a shit holiday for the poor people, because they know that they’re going to get a super shit holiday.

It looks so staged, and typical of C5 there's an element of showing how the poor people can do being poor better.

@tiredmum2468

They could take a couple of the tellys to cash converters and sell them to pay off debts or fill their freezer

There's an idea

My friend's a social worker and she says cash converters pays really badly, she advises her clients to use the local pay day lenders. As long as you pay up promptly they don't get violent
Pebbledashery · 14/03/2021 21:01

Are we watching??

Watching it now. The rich house is much nicer this week, indoor swimming pool and all. Poor house looks quite nice too. This show really makes me me feel like my house is a dump.
MrsKeats · 12/04/2021 16:29

Is that the one that the 'poor family' has 5 kids?
I just don't get why people have more kids if they are struggling.
Five kids is a luxury I think as it means more time off work etc,
I would have loved to have more kids but would rather provide a better life for fewer kids.

AfternoonToffee · 12/04/2021 16:58

I remember that 'rich house' but how gutting, you just get a house that isn't really much different to yours, everyone else gets a Mercedes, swimming pool and room for a pony.

Oh and definitely staged, with a side deal with Spar. There was one in a town I know well and they went to Spar. The nearest one is blooming miles away. The nearest shop is one of those little Sainsbury's Local, but it would still be cheaper than Spar. Plus Tesco, Aldi, Iceland and a range of cheap shops in the town that is within walking distance.

And do rich people only ever spend in farm shops, what's that all about?

bp300 · 12/04/2021 17:04

Funny how the rich family always seem to be selling training courses for about 30k. Its almost like the programme is free advertising for them.
