Thanks. Want to get started on a new fitness regime as I’m over weight and unfit and think this would be a good motivator.

If money is tight, look at a mii band. DH has one. I prefer my fitbit (charge 4) but he's happy with with what he has.

OublietteBravo · 07/03/2021 21:19

I have one of these and I really like it.

Seagullslanding · 07/03/2021 21:28

I have a Huawei pro band 2. They are currently £31 on amazon. I have had fitbits and another higher price one , but I definitely prefer the Huawei. I use it to track my running, not just the distance but also the route.

MatildaTheCat · 07/03/2021 21:30

Do you really need one? My phone does all the basics.

SpringSunshineandTulips · 07/03/2021 21:34

I was looking at the charge 4. I can spend up to £100 if I need to for the right thing but if I can get something cheaper that’s just as good I will do that.

They aren't great.. I'm on my 4th!! I have a good group of Fitbit friends, or I wouldn't bother! I have a Garmin vivo active which is definitely more robust..

WitchesBritchesPumpkinPants · 07/03/2021 21:46

What functions fo you need?

I have a cheap one from Amazon (I think it was about £20?). It counts my steps and that's all I need it to do. The App keeps weekly total etc. It does do heart etc but I never use that.

I was going to buy a fit bit or something like that, but I hadn't worn a watch in years and I wasn't sure if I'd adapt to it or if it would annoy me...but I liked it well enough, so haven't replaced it (I think I've had it about 5 years now). .

Littlebelina · 07/03/2021 21:47

That's interesting @Furrydogmum, my fit bit is dying after just over a year. Was debating on charge4 or garmin, only really considering former as it has built-in GPS but thinking garmin would be better...

m0therofdragons · 07/03/2021 21:49

I’ve had a Fitbit for 5 years but the straps have broken a couple of times. I bought dh the charge 4 last month and it seems a better design. I’m upgrading and decided on the Apple Watch but only because of specific functions like music. I do like the Fitbit app. It really depends what functionality you want.

LadyPoison · 07/03/2021 21:51

Fitbit has now been sold to Google who can now access all the personal data your device captures.

I have disconnected mine from my Fitbit account ( now deactivated) and use it as a dumb pedometer.

Huawei Band 4 Pro, £44.99

DieSchottin93 · 07/03/2021 21:56

I recently got a Fitbit Inspire 2. Cost me less than £90 from John Lewis and that was including paying £10 for 2 years warranty. It's certainly helped me get motivated to exercise during this lockdown Smile

GlueSuedeShoes · 07/03/2021 22:03

I’ve had a Fitbit until it gave up the ghost and now have a Huawei honor band 5. Only £30 and tracks steps and exercise, connects to my phone, very easy to use. I’d definitely buy this over a Fitbit ( but quite fancy an Apple Watch now!)

EatingAllThePies · 07/03/2021 22:05

I have a fitbit which I really liked but the screen has gone at 18 months and having looked around this is a common problem (all working but so dim it's unusable and it's main features all involve the screen) so I really don't recommend them. I am in the market for a replacement and Garmin get a lot of good reviews but I'm thinking a Samsung because I like the Samsung fitness app. I'll be waiting a while though as I can't justify another big purchase when I'd expected the fit bit to last a good few years!

wlv12 · 07/03/2021 22:16

I’ve just ordered a Mi band 5 for £26.99, DH has one and loves it. I’ve discovered from it that my phone isn’t all that accurate with steps.

ApolloandDaphne · 07/03/2021 22:16

I have a Garmin Vivosmart. It cost £99 and I like it so much better than the Fitbit I used to have.

mrsplum101 · 07/03/2021 22:23

I got my charge 2 on CEX second hand for £40 and it's been brilliant.

tttigress · 07/03/2021 23:27

Amazon do an one brand one (Amazfit), which has good reviews and is cheaper than fit bit.

RE: Fitbit, personally I like the ones that are a slim band (but I guess you are not buying as a fashion accessory).

I used to use Fitbit, but now I just use my phone to time a run with GPS tracking, I would be taking the phone with me anyway to listen to podcasts.

I think the phone can actually do anything a fitness tracker can (apart from stuff like pulse if you get a really expensive one), but it is up to you, you might get more motivated if you are part of the whole Fitbit group on social media etc.
