To be annoyed that my SIL has put bubble gum in the party bags from her dd's 3RD Birthday?

OK, I probably am! We went to her dd's 3rd Birthday Party last night and there were 10 kids there, her 2, my 3 and her friends 4, the eldest is 8, we got the party bags and came home, in the bottom of the carrier that they were in I saw a pack of bubbly and then my ds asked what sweet this is and had eaten one! My kids are 5,3 and 1!!!! and she gave them bubbly???!!!!!! I don't allow my kids to have it (because it's awful and they'll eat it) What do you think? Do you check the contents of your party bags before giving them to your dc???

yanbu, but you can easily remove it before your DCs get their mitts on it, always check DS;s party bags due to nut allergy anyway

think 3 is probably too young for gum

can you imagine the stickyness

YANBU. It's a a ridiculous thing to put in a party bag for that age.

I always check what lurks in party bags. mean Mummy, me!

3Ddonut · 06/11/2007 12:15

Yeah....I got 2 out Lulu but didn't have time to check bag 3 before had to pick ds up and as soon as we got home, he raided the cupboard and brought a half-eat bubbly up to me (I was putting dd2 to bed) and admitted to having already eaten one!!! of all the bags, and all the sweets...... !

YANBU - I think it's vile at any age, but really bad for three year olds. And of course, because you've taken it out, they will want it and will talk about it for aaagggess.

It doesn't too sensible re choking hazard.

Also gum-chewing is a vile habit to be discouraged for as long possible.
