YABU- yes I want schools to have longer school days and shorter holidays

YANBU- no I'd rather keep the hours/terms we have.

I keep seeing this is being discussed in the media today, do you think it's likely to happen? Personally I think kids would benefit more from the summer holiday and being able to catch up on the activities they've missed and socialisation with friends. They've been home schooled to keep up with the curriculum (for the most part! I know this might be a contentious statement for some!) but nothing has replaced the play dates, day trips, parties etc. they have missed.

What do you think?

"Crap schools. Always ha e been, always will be. Nothing will change that. My experience was very different
And my children’s experience in present time (pre covid) was like say and night to your description."

Well, I moved schools a lot due to family circumstances. I attended various schools in different areas at both primary and secondary so it seems odd that by chance they were all crap in exactly the same ways.

Have you had your head in the sand since 2014? -Teachers called out the curriculum and have been fighting for all these years but were told to put up and shut up.

The curriculum was rubbish long before 2014.

That wasn't the discussion - it was pointed out about this curriculum and it was pointed out that teachers have done their bit and it's pretty rude to be late to the party and blame others for not doing their bit when you've missed it yourself probably due to not caring before now.

What are you actually saying? That all schools are crap?

You should walk around the school my children are at.
I bloody would enroll if I could!

So for ages all I've seen is the outcry of will someone think of the children and their education and that they need to go to school to learn as they've missed 7 months and seeing their friends etc and from what I've read so far from the thread is now its OK for them to miss 7 months of education and people don't want them to catch up on some of it because now they need to have a break...
