To think that chocolate tastes better when it's shaped like an egg

FrostyChocolateMilkshake · 06/03/2021 21:17

Is it just me who thinks this?

Currently obsessed with mini eggs - the Smarties ones, Milky Bar ones, the regular Mini Eggs.

Why does chocolate seem to taste better when it is shaped like an egg!? Or am I just a weirdo!?

@MuddyWalks

You are correct. Especially when they only cost 75p from Tesco.
Unless you go to the shop without your fucking club card like me
GreenSlide · 06/03/2021 22:36

@AlfonsoTheTerrible

Bunnies are better than eggs. Anyone who disagrees should meet me in the parking lot.
I believe you mean the car park and I will indeed meet you there.

@AntigoneLost

Completely agree. Can’t stand Cadbury’s bars since the recipe changed but the eggs are almost as nice as the bars used to be, even though it’s the new recipe.
I was going to say exactly this.

@ClarkeGriffin under the patio he goes! I'll be over shortly with my shovel and spade Grin

“Yes, love egg shaped chocolate and animals. Remember these from the 80s?”

Yes :)

FrostyChocolateMilkshake · 06/03/2021 22:39

@GreenSlide you've learnt a very important lesson in life. Never forget your Clubcard.

Yes you are correct op. The thicker the chocolate the better. The sound of it snapping is awesome.

RoseMartha · 06/03/2021 22:43

Yes tastes much better the dc and I were talking about this the other day

Figmentofimagination · 06/03/2021 22:53

Agree 1000%

When DH was shopping at Aldi the other day he rang to say there were no bars of Dairy Milk so would I like a small Easter egg instead. Did he really need to ask?!

Ate the whole egg in one sitting that evening. I should have asked him to get me more.

GreenSlide · 06/03/2021 22:54

Also, they taste even better if they have a bunny or a duck imprinted on the side.

FlamedToACrisp · 06/03/2021 23:01

Christmas choc should be bell-shaped on one side, flat on the other and filled with Cadbury's Caramel. I haven't been able to find Caramel tree decorations for the last few years though Sad.

He's definitely a keeper!

MrsRobinsonsHandprints · 06/03/2021 23:07

I always buy 50 bags of mini eggs when I see them so I can have them all year. I'm sure MN will be horrified that I have three eggs a day think of the sugar but they are the best.

That he is.

Oh, and you can sometimes get the bell caramel chocolates at Home Bargains. I didn't manage to get any last Christmas but did for a few years before that.

Nightbear · 06/03/2021 23:08

I’m horrified that you can stick to 3 eggs a day.

LeSquigh · 06/03/2021 23:08

Has anyone had the Terry chocolate orange eggs? I was so disappointed by them. They have a (very) hard shell and have me a stomach ache. I love chocolate orange normally but these are horrible.

I havent seen this in years!! Thank you for the chocolately dose of nostalgia!

I completely agree. Normally I don't eat much chocolate- can easily go several weeks without it. But Easter eggs are a different story!

OhWhyNot · 06/03/2021 23:11

Yes I think it does too

I think it often tastes creamier

My favourite is Kinder and the Lindt Bunny (the best chocolate ever)

FrostyChocolateMilkshake · 06/03/2021 23:12

All this talk of chocolate eggs is making me hungry. Despite the fact I'm nomming my way through a large pack of Milky Bar Mini Eggs as we speak.

@LeSquigh so disappointed to hear about the Terry's eggs!! They look so good - saw my first one in Tesco today.

Think I'll stick to my Terry's Chocolate Orange at Christmas

Kaydogsdinner · 06/03/2021 23:13

Omg yes, someone has finally said what I've been thinking for years, thank you OP!. Freddos also taste better I think!

LindaEllen · 06/03/2021 23:14

Absolutely!

I'm 30, and am slowly coming to the conclusion that, actually, I am an ADULT, and could perfectly well start consuming this beautiful form of chocolatey goodness as early as Boxing Day! Every year! I can do what I like!

(Unfortunately I still have my mum's voice in the back of my head saying the Easter Bunny would be sad if I ate my chocolate before Easter Sunday ...)

MrsRobinsonsHandprints · 06/03/2021 23:49

@Nightbear

Ha! You're not the first person to say that, its a standing joke amongst my friends.
FrostyChocolateMilkshake · 06/03/2021 23:50

@lindaellen I have that voice too!! I can eat mini eggs guilt-free but the thought of chowing down on a great big Easter egg before Easter Sunday makes me quiver a bit inside
