To be fed up of vaccination envy

I'm so fed up of people complaining about who is getting a vaccination before them. Often they cite someone who has been deemed vulnerable but in the eyes of the complainer whatever the medical condition it is isn't very serious in their opinion (obviously also in total ignorance of any other health issues the person may have).

Seriously this isn't the last lifeboat off the Titanic, the last helicopter out of Saigon. More boats and helicopters are on their way all the time. Just wait your turn and be grateful we have an NHS which has stepped up to the challenge and is leading the world in managing a massive logistical challenge.

It was always going to be necessary to use broad bandings of priority.

We are so lucky to have an expectation of getting vaccinated in the near future whatever your age or other circumstances.

I've just had it with hearing whiners complaining "it's not fair".

@Smileyaxolotl1

I can see why people are annoyed though. For example everyone who works for the NHS is entitled to it, regardless of role and whether they are working from home.

So I am going into a school next week where I will be in close proximity to hundreds of children, unvaccinated, whereas my friend who works for the NHS has been vaccinated and will continue to work from home and not leave her house.

This.

I particularly dislike people putting those badges on their social media profiles.

I haven't seen those - is it on Facebook? I never go on Facebook.
But whilst I can see it can be annoying to see when one is eagerly awaiting the call up, is it possible people are doing this to encourage others who may be reluctant to get in and have the vaccine?

MuddyWalks - but I don’t have a high risk of death or serious illness. I mean, I could die right now from falling down the stairs.

I’m happy to wait my turn, I don’t need to “sob and shake” with jealously over somebody being vaccinated before me.

The only time i saw vaccination badge on sm was anti vaxxers👀 They use the vaccine logo with added "won't get" or something like that. It's very tiny text difference not spotted at first!

@Smileyaxolotl1 totally agree with you.

WireFan · 07/03/2021 14:38

Watsername I agree and feel the same. But I'm keeping quiet from now on as when I've expressed the same view IRL I've had apparent friends accuse me of being selfish and moaning unnecessarily. Their view is that I/we should be grateful that there are vaccines at all and everyone should just wait their turn, regardless of when that comes and whether or not guidance interpretation and rollout out are varying across the country because 'there's no perfect system'. Which is odd because they complain about plenty of other NHS services.

(Never mind the fact that priorities were set by the experts who have always given age as a main risk factor and we're all pretty fed up with feeling vulnerable to infection, especially as schools reopen...)

I agree OP, I find it so crass and crabby especially when it's coming from young people whose risk is negligible anyway.

DH had his as he was called to use up a left over dose. He's 39, no underlying conditions, the receptionist said she wasnt sure why he was on the list to call but it's likely because he had a blood clot back in 2017 I think it was?
