The article below is well worth a read. I know/expect there are various types of porn production, but AIBU to expect what is described below might be a fairly common experience for participants?

Not at all.

It's so shockingly vile

It will be interesting to see how such cases would be processed in different countries. In some ways I'm surprised they won (not that they didn't deserve to morally, just the legal perspective)

Also, the article gives some insight to how young women end up in such a situation

I know that arstechnica site, it's consider a very good tech website, and I was curious to see what the comment section would show. some good reading there too (some of the comments sections I'd ready in the past there are full of toxic male rubbish but not in this case).

When things are in a digital form, and can be distributed and shared so easily these days, it's a very different world.

This interview with Mia Khalifia I also found very interesting. She clearly very smart, articulate, etc. www.bbc.com/news/av/entertainment-arts-49453376

...and yet she ended up in porn.

I was not surprised sadly and agree it is vile. When there has been a thread about a woman's view after catching her DH/DP watching porn, my response has often been that the watching porn is the main offence (if you can use the term), and also of the impact it has in supposedly normalising certain sexual activity.

teentipans · 05/03/2021 17:16

Good for them.

SoftParade · 05/03/2021 17:46

@CourtAndSpark2, I'd never heard of Mia Khalifia, but quickly took a look at that video, and a few other interviews too.

But I'm not sure the cases are fully the same. The people in the court case were clearly (at least to me!) vulnerable.

What made her go into porn? She is well educated, clearly very smart, and so beautiful.

I'm almost afraid to google any more on her (based on the topics in the search Blush), since I'm at work just taking a break before I drive home.

@SoftParade, I'd also never heard of MK, but doing a quick search I'd think there are similarities. She too has been screwed (no pun intended) by the industry, just in a different way.

I took a quick look at some of the videos she is in. She is indeed really pretty. Maybe she is acting in them, and there is coercion (who knows what happens off camera?). Or maybe she was a willing participant? But either way I think she has been taken advantage of
