I've never had it before, not even seen it, sounds like it was delicious. Describe it to me - what's changed?

Whaat? I loved it. My fish averse dd loved it too and often had it in a sandwich. What have they done to it? I tried different ones from m&s etc, but not one ever came close, too lemony, too creamy etc.

Sorry everyone, I must have accidentally bought some. They've discontinued so many things I bought there that it's become a standing joke with my OH that they monitor my Nectar card to decide what gets the chop next.

Im sure M&S changed theirs too. Great whopping chunks of stringy salmon. Bleurgh.

It's been a while since I've used sainsbury but I used to get their pate. My thoughts are with you at this difficult time.

Yes I loved it too but alas ! Now I throw a packet of smoked salmon trimmings in the blender with a tub of cream cheese and a blob of cream or creme fraiche (if I’ve got either in ) and Bob’s your uncle !

Oh pukka how you have missed out! I have searched far and high for a decent salmon pate in this country. One christmas when I couldnt find it I drove 2 hours and qued to get the queens pate of choice as a second. It was awful. Sainsburys Smoked Salmon pate was by far the best.

It was smoked smoked salmon not 'smoked' salmon - slightly hot smoked flavour but not overpowering. It was perfectly blended perfection. Mainly salmon itself rather than cream cheese + salmon. It had a lovely oilyness to it rather than a claggyness you get with the creme blends. It was pure heaven.

Now we have the same old pate cream cheese salmon blend as everyone else (still better than the others texture wise - softer rather than claggy) with an overt dill flavour.

It is the final nail in the 2020 decade coffin. Let it be over already

To be fair there is another brand they sell in Sainsbury's which does a really good one as well

I loved that too but there's five of us and the tiny pots went nowhere, so I started to make my own. Its miles cheaper and after a few trial and errors, I think it's even nicer.

I buy packs of smoked salmon from the local market and am quite unadventurous in my use of it.

A recipe for this would be great.

Sainsbury’s used to do the most incredible Thai edamame dip. I was completely obsessed and would buy tubs upon tubs of it.

Then one day it wasn’t there. I checked every time I went in for a year and it was just gone.

Sainsbury’s need to answer for this treachery.

They do that with mine too! Maybe if one person buys up their entire stock of something they read it as not many people buying it rather than lots of units being sold.

It sounds lovely. I don't have a Sainsburys local to me so I never tried it, but I'd be very interested if anyone has a good recipe for a paté. I'd definitely like one that was more fish & less cream cheese (excessive cheese sounds like a cost cutting measure TBH). Personally I'm quite partial to homemade mackerel paté. I tried M&S crab paté once - tasted ok but disappointingly had bits of shell in.
