Stoppissingonmyheather · 03/03/2021 21:36

I don't care if I have spelt those wrong.
It seems like every thread I read has these words in them why is this is it a secret message or are we all currently obsessed with misogyny I really don't k ow how to spell it or even what it really means tbh

What's difficult to understand about misogyny Hmm. Do you not understand other types of discrimination or prejudice either?

It's coming up more often because the situation for girls and women and women in the world is getting worse by the day.

sonnysunshine · 03/03/2021 21:44

It has been around forever but more people are realising it is used every single day to shut women up.

Stoppissingonmyheather · 03/03/2021 21:45

It seems to be on every single thread that's why I am asking. I am not saying I don't agree it exists just that I don't know why it is everywhere right now and don't really get the whole meaning although I know my dad is one

Like most other forms of discrimination, people are happily throwing around terms like this whenever they are challenged on bad behavior. The term woke took on a negative connotation because of opportunists who jump on any bandwagon and do harm to the cause.

Blondiney · 03/03/2021 21:50

I've also noticed it's getting trotted out with alarming regularity, to the point that I wonder if the posters actually know what it means.

Misogyny exists obviously but to label every perceived slight as misogynistic does nothing but dilute the meaning.

ArosGartref · 03/03/2021 21:51

Patriarchy is my fav

Veterinari · 03/03/2021 21:53

Why not educate yourself?
Assuming you're a woman it's in your interests

madmara · 03/03/2021 22:22

Agreed. It is on every thread tonight.

SenecaTrewe · 03/03/2021 22:40

@ArosGartref

Patriarchy is my fav

Yeah me too. I bloody love the patriarchy. It's brilliant.

LalalalalalaLand123 · 03/03/2021 22:54

What @BrumBoo said

ValidUser · 03/03/2021 23:04

Misogyny is a real problem and it's important that we discuss it.

VestaTilley · 03/03/2021 23:31

It means hatred of women. More women are using it instead of “sexism” as sexism applies to both men and women, but misogyny is only about women.

More and more women are wising to to what an anti-woman society we live in, and how the patriarchy damages us all. This knowledge may be depressing, but we won’t get our liberation without it.

VestaTilley · 03/03/2021 23:32

Wising up, that should say!

What a strange post. Have you hear of Google? Look things up. Tbh, it's used a lot more because more women are calling it out. And so they should.
AgnesNaismith · 03/03/2021 23:34

The Patriarchy is full of cunts. That’s the problem.

Devlesko · 03/03/2021 23:36

Nah, it's been bandied around by mc women for years.
Lost it's impact now.

NiceGerbil · 03/03/2021 23:42

OP if you don't really know what it means then why not find out.

Then you can tell posters who use it that they're using it wrong/ overreacting etc when they use it and have an argument to back it up.

Saying this word is used too much but I don't really know what it means is a bit odd TBH.

Silenceisgolden20 · 03/03/2021 23:43

Impact? Eh? It's not a word for impact.
araiwa · 03/03/2021 23:49

It does get overused. But then that's a constant thing on MN.

Any comment about an individual woman is labelled misogynistic. But somehow a comment about a man is not seen as misandry.

Silenceisgolden20 · 03/03/2021 23:55

Funny that. A fourm for women using a word associated with women
Who would have thought it Hmm

Stoppissingonmyheather · 04/03/2021 00:07

@NiceGerbil Obviously.... What I don't really get is the manner in which I am seeing it constantly used on every thing I read, its like the word of the moment used in everything

OP posts:
DioneTheDiabolist · 04/03/2021 00:14

It's a common enough word on Mnet.🤷‍♀️

Ermidunno · 04/03/2021 00:16

You’ve obviously not had your awakening yet.

Stoppissingonmyheather · 04/03/2021 00:18

Ooo "the awakening" sounds exciting

OP posts:
Ermidunno · 04/03/2021 00:19

I haven’t had mine yet either, but I keep reading about it so am also excited.
