Fancy a brew?

Makes my skin crawl. I can’t put my finger on it but it’s just an awful phrase.

Am I unhinged?

What the actual fuck is a picky tea?!

IBelieveInAThingCalledScience · 04/03/2021 16:11

What fresh hell is this?

I never heard "picky bits" before, it's even more revolting!

Blueberries0112 · 04/03/2021 16:15

I have heard of prickly pear teas.

Crayfishforyou · 04/03/2021 16:16

Picky bits makes me cringe and think of oozy scabs

Cuppa is the word I hate the most. For some reason it gives me rage

CounsellorTroi · 04/03/2021 16:21

Butty means friend/mate in South Walian dialect. "OK butt?"

VegetarianDeathCult · 04/03/2021 16:33

@knackeredcat

Anyone for a cup of splash? Or did only Pete Beale say that? Grin
You're having us on, now. That sounds like a euphemism for penis beaker. Grin

I love the word poorly, which isn't really used in Ireland. I learned it in England, and taught my kids to say it, for feeling a bit under the weather . Their friends must wonder what they are on about.
I've never been able to make an American muffin that tastes as fabulous as a shop one, I suppose I lack the artificial ingredients. I like Welsh cakes, just by the way. We seem to be discussing things to eat with a nice cuppa.

Why do people seem to want us to move towards a homogenous, boring language? Surely it's the differences that create interest, just because someone uses different words to you doesn't make them wrong!
