I’ve gone from a size 12/14 to an 18 since this time last year. I’ve spoken now to three friends who are the same. Have never been this large ;and also to be fair was already heavy for me - but am 5’8 so am usually slim- ish).

Firstly has anyone else done the same. Bit also - if I’ve put it on in year is it reasonable to think that with a decent diet and resuming good exercise habits I can shift it in six months?

All the same reason , that food (and 🍷) has been our main
Comfort

I’m starting a diet and exercise initiative in April (a paid scheme )

I can feel everything digging and my bras don’t fit

Meh 😑

I put on weight after my second child was born because I was so sad he was disabled. I had never been overweight before this and he turned 11 this year, so I've had a fat decade.

I am now in the process of loosing it. Bought blue tooth scales, log what I eat, don't exclude anything from my diet and just eat smaller portions.

I've lost a fair bit since the beginning of the year and hope to be a healthy BMI by late summer.

In the first lockdown I retrained myself and set up a small business and in this lockdown I'm loosing weight.

I don't say this to piss people off but I have achieved not very much for 10 years. It has taken a national pandemic for me to invest in myself again, rather than existing solely to care for my kids.

Why would that piss anyone off?

You sound amazing, like such a dedicated and caring parent. But I’m really glad you’ve decided to make some time for yourself too as well as them ❤️ It’s so good for kids to see their parents being well rounded people with their own things going on! I’d imagine they’re very proud of you. Good luck with the business and the weight loss!

Different triggers for different people I guess. As soon as I started my career job years ago I put a stone and a half on and had to do WW to lose it. A mixture of sitting down a lot, stress (and comfort eating at one time), commuting, less time to exercise, eating when I have to rather than when I want to, buying lunches out, hotel stays and travelling, socialising with work, loads of food hanging round the office.

Whenever I've had periods when I've been at home - maternity leave or working from home I lose weight, even in a pandemic it seems. Going to work tends to make me put weight on. I'm missing out on the walking on the commute but have a dog so have to walk and have been doing loads more yoga because, well, there aren't that many other ways to fill my time other than work, sleep, watch TV and exercise.

So I'm trying to lose more weight before I go back into the office in three months as I find it easier when I'm at home all the time!

I’ve gained about 10lbs. Feel yuck and really want to get it off but can’t seem to stop eating!

ErickBroch · 01/03/2021 15:52

I have STS roughly, but i am still bigger than i'd like. I have worked throughout and not been on furlough which has helped. If I had been out of work or furloughed I would have really, really struggled.

SheWouldNever · 01/03/2021 15:54

I have put on a lot. Had a baby and the weight just hasn’t shifted like it did with my other three, I think because we just aren’t really getting out of the house and walking as much.

Baby is 7 months and I still look 7 months pregnant. Am 12kgs above my usual weight at this point post partum.

Jizzle · 01/03/2021 15:56

I've actually managed to lose a fair bit over lockdown, i've had a lot more time with WFH to exercise so getting out most days has really helped.

Carolbaskinstiger · 01/03/2021 21:54

Wow so many in the same boat (though we may need a bigger boat) Grin
Have started with the longer walks from yesterday but Food I’m really struggling with. It’s just the only thing to do when stuck indoors all the time.

I'm with you, first lockdown I lost 1st 5lb, felt great but still had more to lose.

I've now put it all back on and at least another 10lb on top of that.

Im disgusted with how I look but have no motivation to diet. A lot of my friends have gained weight to, but also lack motivation.

Marble2302 · 01/03/2021 22:13

I was fat at the start of lockdown and I am still fat. I weigh exactly the same. I need to lose 4 stone 😭

BrideofBideford · 01/03/2021 22:15

@LalalalalalaLand123 I can’t sit cross legged anymore either, really odd! Normally I swim and do yoga (only once a week), maybe it’s just that all we’re allowed is sitting and walking?! Grin will the nation have mass hip flexor issues?

(Yes yes yes I know I could do YouTube yoga but it just does not work for me, I don’t have a room big enough to stretch out my 6ft body in all directions Sad)

Blankiefan · 01/03/2021 22:34

In 2019 I went from a size 22 to a 14. I'm back up to an 18 but I'm in week 2 of sorting my shit out. If I can keep it up for another 30 weeks or so,that should sort it!!
