To wish you could swap places with your spouse for the jab?

I got my text today inviting me to get jabbed tomorrow. I'm 40 with no underlying conditions. DH is nearly 50 with asthma but hasn't had an invite. I don't really understand why I have. I wish I could swap with him. AIBU to think they should let us swap?

Call your surgery to see if he should be getting one.

Do you think they might have made a mistake? Surely you aren't in the current vaccination cohort.

shouldistop · 28/02/2021 11:38

As others have said I'd give them a call

SchrodingersImmigrant · 28/02/2021 11:38

There is a reason you were invited. As pp said, check with surgery if he wasn't supposed to be invited too.

littlepattilou · 28/02/2021 11:41

My DH got a call for the jab on the Monday a couple of weeks ago (for the Tuesday,) and then on the Tuesday, I got a call too, for mine (a few hours after his.)

Hopefully your DH will get his soon.

Do NOT cancel yours though. At least YOU are covered, so are less likely to infect him IYSWIM. Do ask about him by all means though. Smile

Jabbawocky · 28/02/2021 11:50

I don't think the surgery will be pleased with me calling but I'll try on Monday. It would seem I'm not the only one being done out of cohort if you look through some of the Mumsnet threads. I just wish he could go first.

There may well be a very good reason you've been invited.

Like you, I'm in my 40s and got invited for my first jab at the end of last week. I'm pretty healthy and didn't know I was in an at risk group. However, 2 days earlier I saw a social post from Thrombosis UK confirming that anyone who has had a previous DVT should be in Group 6 for the vaccine, and now I know that's why I've been invited.

If I hadn't seen that post by chance, I would be here wondering why as a person in my 40s with "no underlying condiditions" I'd been offered a jab.

Take it OP - the more people who are vaccinated faster, the better. Hopefully your DH will be offered his very soon too.

Jabbawocky · 28/02/2021 11:57

I have none nor have I ever had any of the conditions listed below that would put me in group 6. I do have a son with ASD but he's high functioning and in a mainstream school with no help so surely I'm not considered a career? Or maybe I am and that's what's done it?

Clinical conditions list:
• a blood cancer (such as leukaemia, lymphoma or myeloma)
• diabetes
• dementia
• a heart problem
• a chest complaint or breathing difficulties, including bronchitis, emphysema or severe asthma
• a kidney disease
• a liver disease
• lowered immunity due to disease or treatment (such as HIV infection, steroid medication, chemotherapy or radiotherapy)
• rheumatoid arthritis, lupus or psoriasis (who may require long term immunosuppressive treatments)
• have had an organ transplant
• had a stroke or a transient ischaemic attack (TIA)
• a neurological or muscle wasting condition
• a severe or profound learning disability
• a problem with your spleen, example sickle cell disease, or you have had your spleen removed
• are seriously overweight (BMI of 40 and above)
• are severely mentally ill

I recently got my invite as a carer but my daughter (the clinically vulnerable person) won’t be offered one as she's just under 16. I have booked in but have had a feeling of misplaced guilt ever since.

shouldistop · 28/02/2021 11:59

You likely are down as a carer for your son

TheGoodEnoughWife · 28/02/2021 12:03

Have you had gestational diabetes? If so it will be that even if perfectly well now.
