To find social media deletion process bloody annoying

I've currently got Facebook and Instagram and have had them for a few years. I really want to delete both of them, mainly due to my mental health. I suffer quite badly with depression and anxiety and I find that social media just makes it worse. I'm forever comparing myself to other people and their lives which I know isn't healthy.
I was also obsessed with checking my ex bf's Facebook after we broke up last year. I don't do it as much now but I still check from time to time and It just really makes me feel like shit seeing him live his best life.

I'm more than happy to delete both profiles, but... when you delete them, it keeps them for 30 days incase you change your mind! I find this so annoying because I know I will go back on there! I have absolutely no will power. I just wish I could delete them and that be it... grrrr. Anyone else find this annoying? (I suppose I could ask a family member/friend to keep my phone away from me for 30 days but I bloody need it for work Envy)

At the same time as you delete, could you get somebody else to change the password for you, so that they know it, but you don’t? That way, even if you are tempted to go back on within the 30 days, you wouldn’t have the password to do so?

that would work if you got them to change the email address and remove your phone number from the account.

This is a good idea if you really can't keep away

Honestly, your life will be so much better without looking at the business of people who don't matter.

Not sure if this helps but with Instagram I firstly deleted all my followers and then unfollowed everyone I was following, made my account private and then deleted the app. So even if I were to log in again there wouldn’t be anything to see. I didn’t delete the photos but I could have. I didn’t deactivate the account, I’ve just logged out of it, so no begging emails from Instagram!
Hope that helps x

I don't blame social media for having a cool off period. What I object to is their inaction or slow action over toxic comments. MN is far quicker than most.
