To be reassured that we all agree Hot Cross Buns are buns?

In another thread, people are discussing whether any other flavour than a traditional fruit and spiced Hot Cross Bun can truly be called a Hot Cross Bun.

What no-one is arguing about, however, is that a Hot Cross Bun is a bun. Because it is.

So can we have no more of this usual argumentative bollocks that pretends a fairy cake is a bun, or a bun is called a teacake or any such nonsense. Hot Cross Bun. Not Hot Cross Cob or Hot Cross Barm or Hot Cross Teacake, is it?

But a hot cross bun is basically a teacake with a cross on the top right? Though yes they are to be called buns
