Dog barking through the night sporadically and waking me up. Can people let their dogs out to make this noise at stupid times?? It’s really loud!

Can anything be done, if it’s a regular occurrence?

Is it inside of outside? Wonder why it's barking at this time? Does it normally do this? If no, could a sign that something is wrong.

Keep a diary and complain to the council but you have to declare it when you sell

It’s outside

They keep their dog outside? Who does that on this day and age unless it's a working dog. Does it have shelter, water, ect? If no, possibly a call to the RSPCA...

OP you have my sympathies - we had new neighbours move in and they were letting their extremely "vocal" dog out at 2 and 3am.
Get them reported to the council.

Sometimes one of our dogs will wake us needing to go out in the middle of the night. While they're out there, they may let off a few barks, if they hear something interesting. We have no near neighbours, though, and it's not a frequent occurrence.

It's likely the dog is waking them and needing a toilet break, unless one of them comes home from a late shift and lets the dog out then.

CypressSwampmaiden · 26/02/2021 05:45

... Or maybe I've misunderstood, if the dog is clearly out all night and not merely being let out briefly at different times.

Sorry! Blush

YA absolutely not BU. My elderly (mid 80s) neighbour across the road's dog was outside, barking and squealing constantly, literally 24/7. Very loud, to the point where the dog owner's next door but one neighbour couldnt sit out in their own garden and relax because of the noise. Was very upsetting as the dog sounded distressed. Shar pei, which was never taken for walks or exercise. Lots of neighbours went round asking if there was a problem with the dog, asking for a stop to the amount of noise, but were ignored. I reported it to the council and RSPCA. Dog now lives with one of elderly owner's sons somewhere else and visits occasionally. We all know when he's visiting Hmm
