To think the quality of Freddie’s Flowers has gone right down recently?

I’ve been getting Freddie’s Flowers for about a year now as a bit of a lock down treat. I only get them once a month but the last two months the quality has been rubbish.

When I started they were beautiful but the last two bunches look like something from a petrol station. I complained about my last bunch and got no reply. I’ll be cancelling and spending my money with a local florist instead which I feel happier about any way.

I just wondered if anyone else had noticed this or if I’ve just been unlucky with my last two boxes and it’s more noticeable as o only get them once a month instead of every week?

I thought this month wasn't as good as previous months (I normally do once a month) however I forgot to cancel and got another one 2 weeks later and its beautiful and bloomed nicely. I wonder now if the week after payday is their busiest week, I might move the delivery week and see if that makes a difference

I've noticed fewer flowers in each delivery recently. I used to have easily enough for two vases each time, now enough for one vase only. I think they're still lovely flowers, just they seem to be a few flowers short. I get once per month too.

Someone started a very similar thread yesterday about Bloom and Wild.

"Someone started a very similar thread yesterday about Bloom and Wild."

They did. Weird.

I'd guess it is something to do with a combination or brexit and covid meaning the time flowers take to get to them is longer

Our flowers last time were dire. DH thinks they were left in the cold too long. Will give them one more chance next week and if not better will cancel.

Unfucked · 24/02/2021 19:00

I had shit Valentine’s flowers from Wild at Heart this year. They have concessions in all the smart department stores and must have cost DH an obscene amount, but I’ve seen better bouquets in M&S for literally a tenth of the price. Not that I’d ever complain to DH. I’ve told him not to bother for Mother’s Day.

I do wonder if delivery flowers are a very clever fraud. The recipient has no idea how much was spent and if they’re not great they won’t complain.

I've tried Freddie's Flowers and Bloom and Wild but settled on the subscription service with Arena flowers. You get loads of flowers which have always been really good quality in my experience, whereas with the other subscription services I definitely got some dodgy weeks with naff or bad quality flowers. They have brilliant ethical practices and a great reward system so I have amassed loads of points for money off vouchers.

8bitgame · 24/02/2021 19:07

Hmm I didn’t think that maybe it was supply problems. But still - it’s quite expensive (for me anyway) and I could honestly have got a nice bunch from Lidl for a fraction of the price this month. I’m going to cancel. I didn’t see the Bloom and Wilde thread so maybe it is a support chain thing. Or maybe as a PP said the “payday” week bunches are not as good because it’s when most people get them.

My MIL owns a florist, majority of flowers come across from Netherlands. She has been having major issues since Brexit came into force due to issues and delays in the supply chain for the wholesalers based in the UK. They may well be having similar issues. Prices have also materially increased at the wholesaler meaning that fewer and/or lower quality flowers can be provided for the same cost, so if you have a subscription at x pounds per month this may be the reason for a drop in quality.

Botanicals · 24/02/2021 19:15

Last week were really good quality for me but I had just re started after a break. I was toying with cancelling because I get weekly and £100 a month on flowers feels excessive but I really enjoy them.

If quality drops I will cancel though.

I wouldn't buy from Freddie's Flowers having been caught by one of their rude salespeople last year.

A tip to Freddie's Flowers as I'm sure they will read this - don't set up a shop that looks like a flower shop, and then get the huff with people who come in looking to buy a bunch of flowers (which you turn out to not actually be selling) and don't have time to listen to an endless subscription spiel.
