To think that Keto has cured my hooded eyes?

WeIcomeToGilead · 24/02/2021 17:35

I have about 4 stone of baby weight to lose
Started keto a week ago

My eyes which have always been faintly piggy and definitely hooded are now sumptuously eye lidded globes

I’ve just bought eyeshadow for the first time!
AIBU to think that keto could
Make such a big difference or am I deluded?

Ps I’ve ALWAYS eaten a fuckton of sugar/gluten before now

Wierdly enough I started intermitant fasting a few weeks ago and that was first thing I noticed. I'm not specifically doing keto, but am doing low carb. I read ages ago that hooded eyelids were due to liver congestion, so could be why?

WeIcomeToGilead · 24/02/2021 17:42

@Love2cycle

That’s so exciting! Have you been noticing anything else on the visage. Disappeared lines? Smaller pores perhaps?

Love2cycle · 24/02/2021 18:29

My hair is thicker and I have more energy. But nothing else to do with skin unfortunately

partyatthepalace · 24/02/2021 18:50

Well thicker hair and less hooded eyes are selling it to me. How low carb are you doing @love2cycle - I did Atkins a few years ago but have been planning to be more moderately low carb this time -

Outbutnotoutout · 24/02/2021 18:52

Please please please
What do you eat each day
How can I find a proper diet plan

SkeletonSkins · 24/02/2021 18:52

Omg this is so weird, I have been on a low carb no sugar diet since jan (not Keto though by any stretch) and I literally said a couple of days ago, my eyelids are getting skinny. I thought that’s just how mine were, I’d even considered surgery, but you can actually see some eyelid!!!

Heavymetaldetector · 24/02/2021 18:53

Joining thread out of curiosity. I have a stone to lose but I’d like to cut down on sugar and other rubbish

WeIcomeToGilead · 24/02/2021 18:55

I’ve been eating a smoked salmon omelette in the morning, a three egger. I love omelettes and it’s not hard to have them for breakfast.

Also very filling not at all hungry until dinner

And dinner.
Tonight was chicken salad. With garlic mushrooms
Tomorrow it will be sea bass and spinach
Friday I’ll prob have steak broccoli and butter

I've never clicked on a post so fast!! I hope it'll work for me, my eyelashes are literally nowhere to be seen I've so much hood.

WeIcomeToGilead · 24/02/2021 18:57

So weird! And yes I’d also decided to get my eyes sorted out, that genuinely is how bad they normally are!

Mine have been like this all my life and I’ve always been a fiend for sugar wine and everything bad

I have tried looking for information about keto diets, but can't seem to find anything easy to follow.

Is it called anything else?

My eye lips could be used for tents ⛺

anascrecca · 24/02/2021 19:01

I noticed my puffy upper eyelids reduced when I went lower carb and lost weight. I had fatty liver which was the reason I lost weight.

Bmidreams · 24/02/2021 19:01

How can i do this without meat or eggs????

shamalidacdak · 24/02/2021 19:03

Lucky you I couldn't do Keto. I need a ton of carbs for my thyroid. Anytime I try low carb it nearly destroys me

Oysterbabe · 24/02/2021 19:03

Puffy carb face is a thing.

GetTheStartyParted · 24/02/2021 19:10

@WeIcomeToGilead I have lost 4st in the last year through a keto diet and have about another 2 to go, it has made a massive difference to my eyes so YANBU.

I found my wrists looked really slim, which was strange. Also, I fit in smaller sizes at higher weights than other diets. Last time I weighed what I do now, I was a size 14, this time I'm a 12 and fit into clothes much more comfortably. It takes away a lot of bloating and inflammation. Glad to read you're eating salad and veg - keep it healthy and varied. Good luck with it. I lost 10lbs in my first week Grin

LionLily · 24/02/2021 19:19

Yes, puffy carb face!
I'm about a month in, not looking for strict keto but keeping carbs down to below 30g (and I was the original Bread Bear). Slow weight loss, just under half a stone so nothing earth shattering.
DH remarked last night how much slimmer my face/chin/neck looked.
Although on the minus side, a colleague said (uninvited) I looked a bit drawn. Piss on my chips why don't you...oh, hang on, chips are off!

You could always try the low carb boot camp on here for a start? It’s in the weight loss forum and its run by BIWI

I am trying to keep my carbs low but without making a huge deal because then I’ll never do it

I googled “lowest carb veg” bought those
Decided to quit tea
Bread and sugar and anything made from wheat out
Ditto booze

Focusing on eating my favourite food is really helping. I love salmon rocket artichokes and avocados so have been eating those.

Thanks - that’s so Inspiring!

I don’t know how much weight I’ve lost - it just puts pressure on me but a photo of my current jeans Vs my normal jeans is spurring me on no end

Pinterest is your friend if you want keto meal plans. Its where I get mine from x

Weirdwonders · 24/02/2021 19:30

I’m going to try it - my eyes are now so hooded I feel like one of them is starting to look a bit closed. I’ve been thinking about cutting out gluten and sugar anyway for a thyroid related reason so I wonder if something is linked.

monicacat · 24/02/2021 19:33

Carb manager is free to use and it will set the macros for you.
You can set yourself at Keto or low carb and when you log what you eat it will be displayed on a pie chart. There is a cost for premium but you only need the basics and that's free to use.

rossogingerale · 24/02/2021 19:43

This is so interesting, had cancer and ongoing treatment is making it really hard to lose weight, so following with interest.

WeIcomeToGilead · 24/02/2021 22:43

Thanks - will give that a go
