I am returning to work after a long break as a stay at home parent. I've applied for an apprenticeship in Cyber Security and need to explain how/why I will stay motivated for the entire term of the apprenticeship.

Struggling with this - I need a solid 3 paragraphs. Any help would be hugely appreciated! I've spent the last two days applying for new roles and brain is no longer working!

Well.why will you stay motivated? Will you be on apprentice wage? How will that impact on finsnces?

I have just completed an apprenticeship and it was bloody tough, however my enthusiasm for the field and general love of study kept me going. I work with a close knit team and we rely on each other so helping the team moveforward was a great motivator for me. A professional qualification and recognition also.

How did i get through ? Alcohol Blush

You find cyber security an interesting area and ever more prevalent as more an more data and money is exchanged electronically. Cyber security protection/auditing is therefore vital in the modern world and you want to be part of apparatus that prevents/detects cyber attacks. That’s the why. How- you will commit yourself to taking thorough notes, researching any concepts explained etc . That’s the how.

  1. Why you want to do it?
  2. What strategies will you use? Structured study? When will you study?
  3. What aboit when it gets tough? Ask team for support? Workwith team members on scenarios?

As above I would keep the focus on the interesting bits of cyber security. Keep it really positive, in a 'how could I not be motivated??' way. They don't have a right to any information about your home / private life and I would definitely not be volunteering any.

These replies are just the help I needed, thank you so much for getting me started. I will be on an apprentice wage and much of the above applies.

I next have to write a section on how I'll manage to maintain positive relationships in the face of criticism.

Age, perspective and wisdom will help with this. Maintaining positive relationships at work are essential - again it's very difficult to draw this out over 3 paragraphs.

I feel very out of practise and any help with this one also extremely welcome.

Right:

What are the company's long-term and short-term corporate outcomes and goals they want to achieve?
Why is Cyber important to them?
How can you accelerate/ support/ help/ drive their success?
This is an area of huge skills shortage - how will h keep abreast of the latest tech and knowledge?

Babymamaroon · 21/02/2021 22:36

Also even a google into how to manage stakeholder relationships will give you a starter for 10. Good luck 🤞

Excellent, thank you!

How will you celebrate succcess with your colleagues ? How do you deal with setbacks? How do you manage stress?

These are all key to remaining motivated, plus being committed to and excited about the end goal.

Is there a relevant society or institute you can join to get some external cpd and mix with other like minded people in the industry? That can help with both how and why.

cybering · 21/02/2021 23:10

Thank you - all helpful for getting me started. I just needed a few starting points to run from.

The professional society note is really helpful
