To spend the day pampering myself before going into hospital?

Due in hospital tomorrow for fertility treatment, I'm feeling shit about it. AIBU to spend the day pampering so I feel better about going? Bought new leggings and top to wear. Doing my tan and brows, so I don't look too washed out without makeup on. Hair washed ready to be curled later. Going to pack a small bag with some bits to make me feel better once I come round from the anaesthetic - change of clothes, wipes, pads, make up. Plus a book to keep my mind busy while I wait.
Appreciate I may have completely lost my mind, but just trying to keep busy and my mind occupied!!

If pampering is how you relax, then go for it. Self care is important and keeping stress levels down, particularly for fertility treatment. What book have you packed? 😊 Good luck tomorrow.

MsSquiz · 21/02/2021 07:35

I think it sounds like a lovely way to prepare yourself, take time out and relax.
If it were me, I'd do the same Smile

3 days before my due date I had my gel nails done, eye brows shaped and tinted and lashes done. I'd had my hair cut and coloured the week before. Those little things made me feel like me

Sending lots of love for tomorrow

Not at all unreasonable.

I had emergency surgery last week and nearly died of mortification as the poor nurse pulled support stockings over my unshaven-for-three-months legs, so you’ll be saved that humiliation!

Hope all goes well for you Flowers

I feel mentally stronger if I look better .... sad I know.
Nails were done yesterday. Have packed the boy, the mole, the fox and the horse and the Flat share (Beth O'Leary) which came recommended.

That sounds like a good way to relax and occupy yourself today.

Good luck with your treatment.

Hop27 · 21/02/2021 07:40

@LizzieBirmingham - hope you are ok now?

If you’re having your egg retrieval and (hopefully) transfer soon, don’t use fake tan (if that’s what you meant)! Everything else is a great way to prep and look after yourself. Good luck.

MsSquiz · 21/02/2021 07:42

I don't think it's sad. You wouldn't turn up for a job interview in old leggings and a scruffy sweater with unwashed hair.
Looking good helps you feel good, and why wouldn't you want to feel good?

shouldistop · 21/02/2021 07:44

Sounds like a great way to prepare.
Best of luck x

I'm making something from my childhood for my supper, like my mum would be doing if she could visit.

It’s not under GA, is it?

Not sure you can wear nail polish if you have that.

Otherwise whatever gets you through.

Hop27 · 21/02/2021 07:49

It's a General, have SNS nails and it wasn't a problem last time I had a GA. 6 months ago.
Phew .....

A relaxed patient is great. I’m glad you are taking time to do this. It’s a shame we have to wait for treatment before we look after number one.
I hope it all goes well.
@LizzieBirmingham hope you feel better now ( I feel your pain as I also had emergency surgery last week . Wish I had waxed my legs more regularly 🤣🤣 , them stocking are shocking 🤣🤣)

dillydallydollydaydream7 · 21/02/2021 07:51

Lovely idea! When you feel good about yourself you have a more positive mindset,

Good luck with your treatment - our fertility treatment result is currently curled up on the bed between myself and DH!

Fileexplorerrrr · 21/02/2021 07:53

Go for it and enjoy your pamper day today!

Good luck for your treatment tomorrow. Hope it all goes well 😊

Labobo · 21/02/2021 07:55

It's a brilliant idea. Fertility treatment really knocks you out physically so anything you can do beforehand to boost yourself - do it.

Really good luck. Fingers crossed for you.

TheCatThatGotTheCream · 21/02/2021 08:02

Go for it! I'm all for the pampering, even for no reason at all!

Good luck with the fertility treatment.

Having gone through it myself. Especially if it’s a transfer. The nails are fine but I agree with this poster on the tan. They tell you not to wear anything with harsh chemicals or that smells so they don’t even really want body wash or perfume so I wouldn’t risk it with the tan.
CactusTree · 21/02/2021 10:21

@LouiseTrees
Absolutely.

I had my second ER last Friday - told no nail polish, no deodorant, no moisturisers etc for that and then same for transfers as it the embryo isn’t a fan of chemicals! Not worth the risk in my opinion.

percheron67 · 21/02/2021 10:40

Very good idea! A great morale booster.

Hop27 · 22/02/2021 08:22

It went really well, my SNS nails weren't an issue and I felt better for being 'put together'
I got 7 eggs, which I am over the moon about. Just praying for them to fertilise now. Thanks for everyone's kind words.

LizzieBirmingham · 22/02/2021 08:28

That’s brilliant news OP, so pleased! 🥳

Thank you to those who asked after me, I’m totally fine now! Had my gallbladder out, am much better for it.

Hop27 · 23/02/2021 08:17
