When you wished you never bloody left the house

I just need to have a little cry.

Left the house with the kids to get some bread and take back some leggings that were too big to M&S.

A catalogue of small things happened that reduced me to tears in the middle of the street.

1)my youngest said he hated me and wouldn't get out of the car. Once in the shop queue he would not stop kicking his brother.
2) once in the shop the woman refused to give me a credit note for my top big leggings as I didnt have a freaking barcoade. She was so condescending she made me feel like shit.
3) A little old lady fell and banged her head as I happened to walk past (I didn't touch her it was just a coincidence).
4) On getting home and opening the boot the freaking dog ran away across a busy road and I had to leave the kids in the house and go and run after her. People were staring.

Are there times you wish you never left the house? Felt like a Mr Bean episode.

I think you are over reacting to stuff. What do you mean about a bar code? Do you mean a receipt?

Oh come ON.... that’s a shit trip out by anyone’s standards.

Bit of empathy??

Notimeforaname · 20/02/2021 16:29

Ah op. I'm sorry that is a shit sequence of events. I hate those days. Just get through the rest of day now with as little effort as possible and be nice to yourself. FlowersWine

Lastfreakinglegs · 20/02/2021 16:33

@Wickstead @Notimeforaname
Thanks. I think I will do bare minimum the rest of the day. It's the safest option!

Oh a day of calamity is awful Flowers
You have survived it though and tomorrow will (hopefully) be incident free! Hope the old lady was ok?

Ilovecaviar · 20/02/2021 16:35

One of those days! Pour yourself a large wine and forget it!

frasersmummy · 20/02/2021 16:37

I hate days like that.. Just make you wanna give up. If your kids are old enough to be left unsupervised for half an hour. Go pour a, wine and hide from them..

Try again later.. Hugs

Lastfreakinglegs · 20/02/2021 16:41

Thanks guys. I'm on the cake and tea. Blanket and book next. I know it's just small things. But I guess we're all a bit sensitive right now aren't we?

I have this all the time with my toddler when I think it would be nice for us to take a stroll or a short train ride...I almost instantly regret it! You're not alone OP

Quit4me · 20/02/2021 16:41

Yes, I have disaster days like that. Take a breath, have a tea or wine and tomorrow is another day

Sparklesocks · 20/02/2021 16:43

Sometimes lots of things like that happen, any of those events by themselves would be manageable and breezy but when they all combine together it can really feel overwhelming!

Write today off and start again tomorrow Smile

BaggoMcoys · 20/02/2021 16:46

Sounds like one of those days where everything seems to keep going wrong. Kids and animals can be stressful at the best of times. I hope you can have a relaxing evening Flowers

Lastfreakinglegs · 20/02/2021 16:47

By the way the elderly lady is fine, two men helped her up and a shop keeper got her a chair. But it was a bit traumatic as she banged her head on a car on the way down.

Oh yes, I know those days. My kids are grown up now but I vividly remember those days. In fact, this lockdown brings back that sense of walking a sanity tightrope. All I can say is, it does pass. Wine helps. So does cakeWineCake

NeverDropYourMoonCup · 20/02/2021 17:17

Every single time I tried to do something nice for the DDs.

Every. Fucking. Time.

I have one photo of the pair of them looking happy. One. The youngest was screaming right up until 2 minutes before the photo, the oldest starting whining 2 minutes afterwards. The rest of their childhood was spent trying to stop one or the other from whining, wailing, shrieking, whingeing or bitching about why they either a) couldn't stay at home when they wanted to or b) why I didn't take them out and do something interesting.

Sometimes, you just can't win.

Lastfreakinglegs · 20/02/2021 17:30

Thanks @pickingdaisies and @NeverDropYourMoonCup it's like being controlled like tiny dictators isn't it.

I don't even try to take my DCs to a shop at the moment. They're 2 and 4 and everything ends in at least one of us crying! Enjoy your cake and tea OP, tomorrow is another day.

Glad the lady is ok. Enjoy your cuppa, sorry you had a horrid day OP! Hope tomorrow is better!
helpfulperson · 20/02/2021 18:01

I know what you mean. On there own each of those is perfectly dealable with. But when you get a run of things like that it feels like the universe is out to get you.

Iwantafuckingbreak · 20/02/2021 18:05

I remember a particular day I had like this once. The cherry on the top was when the cashier refused to serve me a scratchcard because I didnt have ID, despite being with my 3 children and a trolley full of shopping. I cried 🤣🤣🤣 now that is an overreaction 🤣 tomorrow will be better!

Augustwhatacrapname · 20/02/2021 18:12

Oh you poor thing! I would cry probably right now.

Is M&S open for stuff like that? I thought it was only food? Sorry, not being off the subject, am just so not used to flippin going anywhere

Furrydogmum · 20/02/2021 18:17

Sorry you've had a shitty day ☹ maybe fasten your dog in the boot so it can't do that? I'm so glad my children and dogs are older now. (Although the kids still worry me and the dogs cost a fortune to run!)
