Crazy to dramatically recolour hair with no hairdressers open?

Hair is blonde at the moment with dreadful root regrowth. I fancy a reddish brown shade but if it goes wrong then there might be no hairdressers to fix it for a long time! Would it be best just to just keep it blonde for the moment?

yes.

you can do an online tutorial to touch up roots but learn from me-
I thought I might just trim my fringe a bit on Christmas Day, How hard can it be I thought?
Still regretting it although finally growing out!

Depends how confident you feel in rocking the change and comfortable you are in application.
I'd suggest watching a few tutorials first to look at the method, stella cini on YouTube is good if your hair is shorter.

I'd also be wary of the colour difference with box dye on the darker roots and the lighter length.

There is a dye remover you can buy in the shops if you don't like it.

Belledan1 · 20/02/2021 14:40

I did it and it was too bright. Looked awful. Wasnt even either. I had to buy the stuff that stripped it .I have put a light brown on since that took better.

A friend who normally has a very chic grey bob has dyed hers almost purple brown. It looks amazing. Go for it!

DinosaurDigestive · 20/02/2021 14:59

I would usually say yes it's a massively bad idea and wait for a hairdresser but I have been really tempted myself and just thinking go for it and if it goes wrong, it goes wrong! Can always be sorted at home - to an extent anyway!

I would also recommend watching videos on YouTube to check what is best to do and to use. There are lots of really useful ones on there as well as some not so useful!

With nobody seeing it much then I would just do it. I hate it when I have roots so it would drive me demented having them and I know the feeling of wanting a change all too well!

Box dye is so easy to use. Get two boxes if your hair is thick or long so you have enough dye, and go for a golden brown rather than auburn so the red isn't too dramatic. If it's not the right colour just bleach it back to blond. Also, wear old clothes as you will get covered in dye. Good luck and have fun with it 🙂.

I'd do it but only if you don't mind not being able to get your blonde back. Even colour stripper will probably leave it more yellow/orange afterwards.
I was blonde last year, let my natural brown grown in quite a bit then dyed the blonde ends red and then brown over the top now I have a natural brown all over that matches my roots. I'm not touching it again though!

I'd just do it, it's not like you'll be going out loads of places where people can see it before the salons open.
I did my first ever home haircut the other day out of desperation. It's not bad!
